20th Anniversary of the M100

The next big Lotus event this year will be the Lotus On Track (LOT) Lotus Festival to be held at Snetterton Race Circuit over the weekend of 13/14 Jun 2009. Planning is in an early stage but as it is 20 years since the M100 Elan was launched an LEC presence is planned. There will be an attempt for a World Record for Lotus cars and a possibility of a factory visit

Postby ShaunM » Wed 06.05.2009, 10:38

Just been speaking to Paul Golding, to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the M100 (and 10 years of LEC), we have been invited to do a parade lap of the circuit on the Sunday. Will have more details in 2 weeks time.

I'll be in the Elan as the Eclat Riviera still has the head with 16 bent valves. The other head has only been on the work bench for 5 years!

I hope the Snetterton parade lap will be at a sensible speed for Elans - we don't want a funeral procession, do we?
My 1000cc Mini used to get round in 1min 22 secs, average of 84mph .. but it did look 'a bit hairy' at times.

Sorry a poor response to the post.

Yes I have preregisted for the record attempt on Lotus Central.

If possible iwould like to put my name down for the parade lap, though currently working on getting car on the road.... and then will have to fight the wife for the keys....as she keeps reminding me it is HER CAR!

I did remind her on 8pm on Sunday night after spending all weekend working on it, that if she wanted to crawl under the car and change the oil filter with me [ laying in the pool of oil from draining it down and missing the bowl]....she was more than welcome....if not then she should keep quiet.

Hopefully going for second attempt for MOT after bank holiday weekend when I should finish the last bits!

Simon,

I can fully sympathise with your situation over who owns tha car and who does the work on it!

The only answer I could come up with was to buy a second one :-D
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

The 20 years has obviously taken it's toll - only 6 of us doing this parade lap then? Anymore for anymore? :poke:

She who must be obay'd has just found out that the car is registered [and insured] in my name...... she is not amused!

No amount of technical discussion over insurance policies and who was the insurer and who was the named driver went anyway to convincing her !

All sorts of threats have been levied if i dont change the registration docs into her name!

I may be sleeping withthe car in the garage for the forseeable future!!

- as i still have not finished the Sprit I fear any more Loti may be the straw/camel etc etc!

BTW - Are anybody going to Snetterton in convoy?
I live 5 mins from Dartford Bridge with handy service station nearby?
Just a thought?
