That is actually true, but keep in mind that you almost have zero chance to be annoyed by a cop for that reason.

Spare bulb kit(I just chucked some spare bulbs in a box)

This is true as well, and that might be handy, but again I think you have almost zero chance to be police checked if your lamps are all OK. And even if one bulb is not functionning you have almost no chance to be checked.

As far as I know, that has been cancelled. As for the rest, I am sure one would have had almost zero chance to be checked anyway.

As you are I assume in a French plated car you are very unlikely to be stopped. HOWEVER if you are a British tourist arriving at any Channel port you are easy pickings for the French police to get their fine quota up. Be assured many British cars are "controlled" within a short distance of the ports. So my advice to all Brit cars, especially stand out ones like Lotus, is to have all the bits listed on the AA website mentioned above.

I have been driving and travelling in France regularly for the past 35+ years (yes I love the place ) and noticed that the French police attitude has become more intolerant over the years . However, the French public are vastly different to the British. No jealousy inspired vandalism, just sheer joy and pleasure at someone else's pride and joy.

I actually saw an ad last July in a hotel in Rocamadour for an M100. Anyone out there know about it?

Agree breathalysers have had their introduction delayed again, but I am still taking the two I have, just in case a rural cop hasn't been updated on the law!

Only an MOT I changed the cambelt and water pump over the weekend and it is working (at the moment!)

all sorted bar the bulb kit. Got quoted £95 and £153 for 4 day single trip by the AA for recovery! now have it for £75 for the year so will stop my Green Flag memebrship. Not long now!

I am very surprised that you believe French people are less prone to jealousy vandalism acts and all that sort of things. As for me I would have said it's the other way round
As for the breathalyzerds, as far as I know it has never been asked to the policemen to check it. It was first delayed and then cancelled. So I really think it isn't worth buying/bringing it if one doesn't already have them. ("Light is right" => you shouldn't bring anything unnecessary )

Since this is a Lotus trip 'n all, rest asure that a lot of people bring their extensive toolkit so repairs can be done for free on the side of the road
