some time it tells me the file is not supported as well,
my laptop running vista,

also does any one know how to change the latancy timer on vista,
if i run elanscan and get a bad echo, geoff advised me to change it to 1 ms but ive failed to even get close to finding it anywhere,

Open the zip file with winzip, then extract the contents to a folder.

You should only be opening .ecu files (which are probably contained within the zip and need to be extracted) with ElanScan.

I'm not 100% on where to set the latency, but most likely Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Look for the adapter in the list > right click > properties. If you're not sure might be worth trying to acquire the assistance of a spotty teenager.

Not sure of Vista Tim, but read the XP write up in Wiki help as it should be similar - you need to look under Ports (COM & LPT) or similar and not display or network adapters.

Have you tired right mouse clicking and selecting unzip? If not there are a myriad of "unzipping" solutions on the net, winzip is a good example. Just make sure you note where the files are unzipping to.
