BBCode Anchor/goto pair do we have an equivalent?

Postby Tuga2112 » Sun 07.05.2017, 12:11

im trying to add a post with multiple picture sections and the text all organized at the top.

It would make it a lot easier to read if i could exploit URL anchors in order to state XYZ then put a hyperlink to the picture related to the text while leaving the list of images at the bottom.

currently the only way i can potentially achieve that is to add a reply with the picture then take advantage of the anchor that is automatically generated for each new reply.
if i did that, i would end up being accused of spamming in no time. not to mention the topic itself would look very messy.

An alternative would be to use a BBCode for spoilers which i cannot find either.

so, my question is. do we have a BBCode for spoilers? or anchor/goto functionality?
does anyone have a suggestion of an alternative way of achieving the same goal ?

do you have a link to another forum, other topic as an example of what you try to achieve?

i can give links to other forums showing how to use the feature.

i can also demonstrate the feature using the LEC forum as every single reply to a post has a header with an anchor tag added by default.

what im looking for is to inject my own anchor tags throughout my posts in order to than use the #anchor

for instance.
this url redirects to the reply you posted.

while this URL redirects to my original message.

if you look at the urls.
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=26030#p330398
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=26030#p330384

they only change after the # marker.
pr330398 is an anchor tag added by the forum software automatically for the original message where pr330384 is for your reply.
there will be another anchor tag added to this exact reply im posting.

what i want to do is add my own anchor tags so i can use multiple in a single post in order to make links that effectively scroll to the bottom of my (extremely) long post to jump to sections with pictures and back up.

I have tried direct injection of HTML into the posts but the forum software escapes the input so that is readible by humans which makes the code pointless since the browser cant read it.

What, like this you mean????

Contents

Heading for section 1...

I am the text for section 1

Return to Contents

Heading for section 2...

I am the text for section 2

Return to Contents

Heading for section 3

I am the text for section 3

Well, we do now I added it ;)

However, would rather not release into the wild as it were without some testing... Joao; are you volunteering to test it??? (I guess I already know the answer to that...)

if by "testing" you mean "use it and complain when it goes wrong" with an example of "how" it goes wrong.
sure. I have a post where i wanted to do that for clarity's sake. so ill be happy to edit the post and use all the anchors i need, and report back any issues (i doubth there will be any)

Martin,

I have added anchors on the post and they seem to be working just fine.
I have not tried to make mixtures of anchors of images. (which would probably be better) or other elements.

i been thinking about the ease of use. although i consider this really easy to use. it may not be as straight forward for members who are not as computer savvy as myself. (not to mention i knew how to use the feature before it was available)

Hi

Thanks for that; sorry for tardy response.

Glad it works. Not sure if there is a simpler way to explain it but I'll give it a go in another topic :)
