Elan S2 (WITHDRAWN)

Postby Kuching » Sat 16.07.2016, 18:20

Sadly, due to lack of time and storage space, I'm going to have to sell my blue Elan S2. Although the car was in great condition, it has some rear-end damage due to spinning off a corner and going backwards into a ditch (not by myself). I don't think it was a massive impact (no injuries) and, as far as I can tell, there is no chassis damage, but the back end of the tub has a couple of significant fractures. The LH rear light needs replacing and the RH rear light is cracked. The rear bumper and boot lid also need to be replaced.

It has not been the subject of an insurance claim, and there is no damage record against it.

On the positive side, it does have an SPC hardtop (of course) - almost undamaged.
Refurbished S2 alloy wheels with nearly new tyres (possibly a couple of slight scratches from the excursion but almost perfect).
Hi-Spec front brake conversion.
Professionally reupholstered seats in beautifully soft cream leather (far better quality than the original)
Everest chip and a very good engine.

The convertible hood has been removed and is not available, and the hardtop has been sealed all around which gives the car coupe-like refinement. However, it could easily be changed back to a convertible if you really wanted to find another hood.

I was planning to repair it myself by fitting a new tub, but the reality is that it's going to be years before I can find the time, and I am soon to lose the workshop space where it has been stored since the accident. So, reluctantly, I am offering it for sale.

Before you ask, I have no idea what its value is now. Instead, I am inviting offers, preferably from an LEC member but otherwise I will list it on Ebay.

I will upload some pictures shortly.

Hi Clemo,
Good to see you're still around. Hope you are keeping well.
The Elan does look to be drive-able but for the rear lights not working. Otherwise it's functionality all intact - just body damage.

Hi Simon. Hadn't realised you'd bought Ron JR's car ?? How long have you had it ? And has Ron still got his NMY with hard top ?

PS I'm sure Dapinky will be along with an offer :poke:

Yes, it is Ron's Elan. I've had it for about 4 years.
The rear-end modification was done by my sister who was borrowing it at the time (and shall not be borrowing any of my cars again!).

Haha,
I haven't quite disowned her but it was dissapointing to discover that she didn't have it covered on her insurance.

Looks like your sister checked out the parts of the car which are nearly impossible to get hold of nowerdays. Both rear lights smashed / damaged... Way to go, sis....

Hope you get a goood price and i even more hope somebody can fix this thing without turning it into a Kia...

Big props to your self control... Im also driving a blue S2 and if my sister would have done this to me, well i dont even want to know what would happen...

Can't bring myself to part with this so I've put it into storage now. My intention is to find some time in the future when I can repair it.

Simon
pair of rear lights just appeared on ebay. Price seems to reflects their scarcity ... Perhaps your sister might by them ...
