I can assure you nothing on my car is dodgy. And this is NOT the car being referred to.
I have £8000 of maintenance and upgrade bills all filed from only a two year period. I bought my car and spent the money on it because I could afford to have the best. I think a lot of Elan owners buy these cars because of their budget, but I always wanted one and threw money at it to make it all that I wanted it to be. I'm only selling because I live abroad and will never return to the UK and my regular UK visits will soon draw to a close. I would otherwise keep if forever and have been told by Paul Matty that converting to LHD is a no, no! So I cannot therefore import it to where I live. I would have done it if the experts agreed it was viable.
And I've seen the New Rolex Submariner with metallic green face and bezel and fallen in love. I'm on the waiting list and this sale will pay for that silly extravagance...

Come and see the car if you're interested. The brakes cost near on £2K all fitted by Paul Matty with the extras I had. And the whole system is new! I can assure you they work very, very well! And if you want my exhaust system and related porting you would have to hand over 1K between Piper and Paul Matty. You'd also have to hand over £600 to Toad for the alarm system and £2000 to Bass Junkies to replicate the custom fitted and stealth sound system. So that's over £5K there alone. More than most S.E's are going for! I'm just trying to make a point about my car. Hope to see some punters soon...

Happy to arrange to look at your car. Have just written off my old Elan of 11 years and looking for something to replace it with. I live in Leamington Spa. How are we going to arrange that?

Any one know who owns this car now?

I am trying to get all the Hi Spec rear calipers sorted and need to track this one down for the redesigned rear calipers

Hi Bob,

Paul Matty has it on their forecourt. Give them a call! 01527 835 656

I drive past it everyday and wish I'd bought it :(

Well thats sorted, have spoken to Paul Matty Sportscars who sold the car to their receptionist so they should be keeping an eye on the forum with regards to the rear calipers

Oh dear. Is that Douglas Valley? :(
I'm afraid that's Smudger's old car which was bought by Dave (50ish) earlier this year. viewtopic.php?f=49&t=24917
Unfortunately the car would seem to be written off. Dave is OK.

Another useful post Geoff. I think I may have bought the brakes off that car - forum.lotuselancentral.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=25523&p=322951#p322951

I'd be interested if anybody can tell me why Bob Brown was trying to trace this car 'for the redesigned rear calipers'... No use asking Bob as he hasn't been on the forum in years.

Haven't started to fit them yet as I'm still redesigning the rear set up using a spare upright and stub axle. Bob's setup seems to use Elan front discs on the rear so 256 x 24 ventilated discs but bloody heavy and an unacceptable increase in unsprung weight in my opinion. I have tracked down some 260 x 10mm grooved and drilled so am making up some shim spacers to get everything in the correct place and need to drill and tap a new hole in the hub as the retaining setscrew is a few mm further out. Nearly finished so will be fitting them soon.

Spoke to Alec at HiSpec to order the 10mm central spacers I needed, which arrived next day (who said their service is bad?), and he mentioned when using the hydraulic handbrake it was important not to already have pressure in the caliper from the footbrake or fluid could be forced past the seals - but I was aware of that already. Is that what Bob's issue with the rear caliper design was?
