One owner Elan SE Turbo BREAKING

Postby apollo996 » Thu 05.12.2013, 17:15

Bought it as a project but its too bad to restore. It was left outside for 6 years and never started. Shame as it was a one owner car with 88k miles.

Does have lots of good parts. Panels and interior are all good. Electric windows and mirrors not working at the moment.

Message me if you need anything. Will be listing on e-gay shortly as well.

It would be worth you putting your location in your profile - may help shift a few of the more cumbersome bits.
Got any pics of it?

Hi, I will take some pictures but its in pieces already. Its steel blue which I think is a rare colour. Some of the paint is faded.

i would be interested in the oil/boost/voltage guages if the black background is intact (lights don't shine through), the turbo intake pipe from the inner wing to plenum and doorcards with inserts (not fussed about colour of inserts)

Amazingly this thread seems to have gone very quiet, with a whole car to ship in bits I would have thought there would have been a lot more activity. Sent a PM to this guy but yet not reply. :poke: Anyone else heard anything.

Is this the Elan that made £3600 on ebay as spares or repair??
Judging by apollo's other listings it was never going to get restored at all. If people are willing to pay that much for a scrapper, will it not be long before roadworthy values start to rise some.

:agree:

Breaking another car for profit. I wonder if the car 'was' roadworthy?

Shame if it was :(

I sent him a PM asking for parts and prices but it seems he was just asking for a list of what to sell first on eBay.

Aye, devious, inventive and, maybe, a little underhand but, if true then, clever too :bananasex:

I just wish he'd get a move on with it all - at 3 items a week we'll be here all year!

Personally, I am happy for someone to make a profit from breaking an Elan that is uneconomic to put back on the road. It puts used parts on the market that we all need to keep our cars on the road.

I am quite sure that all of our Elans are worth less than the sum of their parts, so I do think there is a danger of perfectly healthy Elans bring scrapped.

I'm not convinced his pricing strategy is going to bring much success. Policy I'd have adopted would be to ensure I got rid of as much as possible so I'd have put lower start prices initially and then let us piranhas drive it up!

Managed to get his spare hood header rail for a good price, I'll now try to repair the crack on mine and if successful will probably sell the spare later next year.

If anyone is interested I've also managed to buy a wind deflector from Amazon for £61.00. A bit of a wait for delivery but it's not needed to next Spring.

Hi, its my car and I replied to people whenever I can. I have a proper job so don't have time to remove everything straight away. It takes time I'm afraid. I also didn't pay £3600 for the car. I paid a lot less. I bought the car with the intention of restoring but the car turned out to be a lot worse than first thought. It would of being cheaper to buy another good car. Regarding prices I'm new to the Lotus Elan so prices maybe 'wrong' sometimes. I'm also not giving parts away as I need to get my money back. I hate e-bay but unfortunately you get a wider audience and better prices. Finally, the talk about getting a list of stuff to sell on e-bay is plain stupid. I did reply back to some people on this forum with prices but sometimes they were deemed too much. As such, I sold on e-bay instead.
