(for a moment I thought you wanted to add a pnm brakes upgrade to the watch!  )

As for the Lotus watches, are these any special watches when it comes to the internals? What is interesting apart from the Lotus logo?

its the only watch Lotus will ever design and sell.........never to be done again
IIRC.......im sure the story was
Lotus the Spanish outfit who make cheap watches took Lotus to EU court.....
EU court decided that Lotus cars couldnt make watches using their own name but that the spanish Lotus could........
so you'll never see another
they seem to sell for lots of money these days..........they didnt make that many........
its fairly standard watch....nothing hugely special........other than Lotus designed I guess

I got mine for about half that price and I think they were only £175 new.

Nice enough watch, but the price isn’t worth it to me.

Then again, a month ago a bloke I met remarked on the Seiko divers watch I was wearing, which I bought as a cheap sturdy working watch about 40 years ago. He said he had the same model and that his son had seen one sold on ebay for £1,200. It cost me about £45, and I have no interest in selling it - it still works fine. :smt102

John

PS: I’ve never heard of a Spanish watch maker called Lotus. And the European court found in their favour?

One sold very recently on eBay for £193, might even be this one as I remember a remark about a small scratch on the orange. Nice little mark up if it sells.

People who buy these probably never wear them, stick them in a draw.

It's a new set of tyres and a few tanks of petrol !!

Whilst I would quite like to own one, I'd be of the 'put it in a drawer' class of owner. To me, a watch is a 'tool' not an ornament, and I tend to break them on a regularity inversely proportional to the value.

A cheap watch will last many years, whilst a good one has a habit of breaking in short time (to be more acurate - I break them more than they break themselves).

The Type 1 is a good-looking bit of kit, but at the price they go for nowadays, I'd rather have a Timex/Casio and save a fortune - I do own a couple of 'good' watches, but they aren't blingy ones, or even ones which look good, just very rugged and great quality internally. My Citizen pro diving watch is quite ugly, but has been places with me that others would flood with water (and has needed a new battery for a fair few years)....the other is a CWC G10, which again, travels the world with me - those who know what it is without looking it up will just 'know'
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

go on - click this link - you know you want to!
