Dave T

Postby Dave Eds » Fri 06.12.2019, 20:48

Guys, with the heaviest of hearts I have to announce my dear friend Dave finally lost his fight for life today. I managed to speak to him yesterday and as he drifted in and out of consciousness he mentioned his wedding to Maxine and clearly knew who he was speaking to. God bless him for everything good he brought in to my life and to the lives of everyone who had the honour to meet him personally or via such communities as this.

Rest in peace my old scouse blagger mate, such a pleasure to have met you and made such good friends.

Very sorry to hear this.

Dave PM'd me numerous times and his words were more than helpful.

I am sorry for the battle that was against him throughout.

Very sad news indeed.
Never got to meet him but from all the posts he was obviously a good one.
He certainly encouraged all to get checked out, me included, and hopefully this will help others to look after themselves.
My condolences to his family and friends.

Hearing of Daves loss has deeply saddened me. I can clearly remember the day we first meet at Brands Hatch 20 years ago and the great times we had on the IoM plus the rallies round suffolk that he loved to organise. I will surely miss his scouse sense of humour, but I know that this is far from what Maxine and his buddy Spud will be going through right now. God Bless

Just to let you all know that I have shared the link of this thread and the PC thread with Max (David's wife). She has said that she appreciates all the kind words, they mean a lot at this very sad time. RIP Dave, I shall miss you greatly.

Sorry to hear this sad news.
He worked selflessly to warn others to get checked and avoid this outcome.
My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Before I bought my Elan all those years ago, I went along to a car show at Bishop's Stortford attended by a good many LEC members.
After we were warmly welcomed the good advice came thick and fast and Dave was at the forefront with a guided tour of his car.
Everyone who met Dave will know of his great sense of humour which was often seen on this forum.
I took the Elan out for a drive on Sunday, plenty of B roads just for Dave :burnout:

My early involvement with LEC was to do with a broken passenger door glass. I bought a hardtop from Simon C. and was adjusting the guides and replacing a butterfly when it fell into the door and broke into a trillion pieces (though I must admit I didn't count them  )
ebay found me a solution but a trip to south London found me return with a driver's side glass with the wrong tint and a car full of many more Elan parts free of charge... good but not a solution.
LEC came to the rescue with a member in the West Country having what I needed but how to get it... ? This amazing community of members moved it across country via the social gatherings and Dave Ed's passed it to Dave T who lived in Ipswich, near me. I went To Dave T's house just to collect it but an hour later we were still talking about Elans. Such a nice guy. Shortly after he moved to Lincolnshire but I remembered him fondly, always will...

Probably the Dico courier service. He will not have been on here for a long time so probably doesn't know. I'll message him on FB.

Thanks for the message Rips.

I fondly remember our monthly curry nights on a Tuesday 10 plus years ago. Dave would often pick me up from wherever I managed to abandon my truck and deliver me to whichever curry house we had chosen. Great times.
I’ve never met a Scouser with such a gentle voice. RIP pal

Farewell Dave. You epitomised the spirit of LEC and there are quite a few of us who would not be aware of our own prostate cancers without your badgering. We owe it to you to continue to raise awareness.
