It’s an “almost-Lotus” . . . Built between 1994 and 1999, with a Rover K series engine.

A Caterham 21 - as far as I could see, nothing Lotus about it, but a nice enough car for all that. Wouldn't have been allowed on track...but we also had fezza/lambo/aston/pokers etc in attendance - all come for a gander at what they're missing.

I had a brill time managing 4 sessions this year only the first of which was on a damp track and only the third where I was swamped by faster cars driving aggressively. The M100 able to hold its own well with all but the fastest - indeed Gary told me I was faster in the Elan today than the Esprit despite the latter's new tyres (although I don't know how he knew as obviously he wasn't timing or anything against the rules!)

Great to see so many there and chat to those I saw. Maybe see some of you at Silverstone next....

Carrying on the conversation from Saturday. The battle with the o2 Sensor continues.

Penetration oil, ice cube and real socket (not o2 removal thing), brute force and it still beat me!

Next Turbo torch!

Just home from the campsite; nice easy drive compared to the journey down on Friday, thank heavens and it only spitted with rain a few times.

Nice to meet many of you and for all your company and thanks also to the tea/coffee/biscuit providers :)

I decided to cut the weekend short due to the thunderstorms directly over my tent (nearly as watertight as an elan with bad seals) overnight. Spotted a gap in the clouds big enough to pack the car. Drove home - lovely sunshine once I was in Wales (hood down weather).

Really hot and sunny at home, so tent drying out on the decking.

Still, it was another cracking day at CC - Much as I love driving my elan, it is still the LEC community which makes ownership such a pleasure, thanks to all who made the weekend enjoyable (despite the weather).

Special mention to Phil (LFM) for providing the pyrotechnic display to light up the entire campsite on Friday night.... everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Also to Clemo - good job he had his hi-viz jacket with him, doing all the car marshalling to get the cars as close to colour co-ordinated as a spur-of-the-moment idea which wasn't communicated to anyone else could achieve.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

And so say all of us !
PS: Look who I bumped into at the Classic Car event at Crathes Castle today (perfect weather continues...). Yes that is his car ... along with the Evora and the yellow Elan (no Esprits just now, though). Justine is the perfect wife.

PPS: Stevo was also there.

John,

your mission is to convince those 2 reprobates (who had already mentioned that they may come down to CC) to join Mark for a Clan McElan run down next year......

........ can't say too much at the moment, but do some maths........

.... 30 years of the M100, and 20 years of LEC means we need 50 cars to turn up somewhere at the same time.......

Can it still be done, like in the "Good old days"??????

Probably not if those old Garage Queen's stay north of Hadrians Wall and not follow Rambo's good example

Dave - I will do my best to persuade them that there is more to life than a cup of cocoa and watching Eastenders on catch up

Archie said that he and Stevo had talked about attending Castle Combe, and Archie had even been putting some miles on the yellow beastie in preparation, however work commitments and actually looking at a map to see how bloody far from Aboyne Castle Combe is for a weekend drive meant that they decided on Crathes instead (32 miles vs 1014).

Dave,
If next year is to be a biggie, we may make a week of it and visit friends in Taunton. Not sure about BigErch and Stevo, though; they don't have friends in Taunton and I certainly don't want my friends to meet them.

John

PS: In case Maggie ever reads this, I just want to say that Justine being the perfect wife doesn't mean that Maggie is not equally perfect.
PPS: Stevo is thinking of selling the Arancia mobile. Anybody want a bright orange Elan. (One careful owner ... then Stevo.)
PPS: the only reason my car has been in the garage for the last week is the ruddy pothole in Skye which gave me a square S2 alloy. I need to change my avatar.

A good day, like the weather it just got better as the day went on.

Sadly the first and last Elan failed to create any interest what so ever

A great turnout, but not everybody's handbrake worked as it should

As it's the 30 year anniversary next year it would be great if the turn out was even bigger :poke:

Ah, but Geoff will be in the UK for the event next year - I'm sure he'd provide accomodation for itinerant Scotsmen (if they bring a bottle of malt).
