My S2 is original (apart from SS exhaust) and shiny, but not "mint" or a garage queen. I'm sure there are better looking cars than mine but it has a lovely 23 year old patina. Only if you are desperate!!

Re: Lotus Festival 2018 (date now announced 29 Sept at Hethe

Postby dapinky » Tue 18.09.2018, 23:50

I have been sent the attached 'instructions' from Lotus (via Bibs, and then Trevor B) regarding the parking/marshalling at the event. Edit - it isn't attached as the site is currently not allowing attachments.... probably the same issue as flagged up yesterday about hosting photos. Geoff :poke: :poke:

It is a little restrictive for those wishing to arrive late and/or leave early..... but no problem for the majority of us.

Anyone who is going to arrive a little later, or leave earlier may have to follow instructions from the staff on the day - clearly they can't have cars driving around the site unsupervised due to the pedestrians walking around.

I'm sure that it will all work out well on the day, but perhaps we could all agree a suitable time to RV for the final drive to the factory......

(I'll post it up as soon as I can - but they want us on site between 0730 and 0900 on the Saturday morning. I would suggest we meet at Dunston hall at whatever time you wish, with a view to leaving there at about 0830 (latest!).... maybe even 0800 - what say the crowd????)
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

I reckon 0800, could be a few convoys leaving from Dunston Hall

I have had a thought, but it doesn't concern me so I'm not at all worried about it.....

.... We (as a 'displaying club') have been allocated 20 car passes & 40 tickets (nothing new there - it is exactly as expected).....

..... the car passes are GREEN and will allow access to the right bit of the site.

... for those who have sourced a ticket from Lotus70.com, I don't know what colour the pass/sticker will be - so it may allow access via a different route or something :? :? :?

As such, those who have such a ticket, but have indicated that they want to be with the rest of us on the LEC stand, it may be that they will need to seek out Trevor on the Friday and aquire a suitable coloured sticker from his stock.

Now, a reasonable and community-minded person may think that they would be prepared to 'swap' their general parking sticker for a green LEC one, to allow someone to be in the general parking if they are not going to be there all day.... or to make life a bit easier for anyone arriving a bit later than they want the display set up.

I can't enforce this, and have no desire to get into being a ticket 'broker' (and am getting a green one to park with LEC anyway, so have no particular interest), but when I sort out the definitive list for the stand tomorrow evening, I will be making some sort of decision to allocate any 'spare' LEC tickets to thoise who have got one from Lotus70.com, and will be attending in an M100, so they can be with us.

If those people wish to offer their 'other' pass to someone else, then that is beyond my control, but I don't see why they should miss the oportunity to park with the rest of us, purely because they got a ticket early.

(that said, if anyone who has got a lotus70 ticket can confirm with me the colour/entry details, it may save me doing anything which may upset anyone.....)

Peter, the issue I can see (but I may well be over complicating things without knowing.... I'll try and phone Bibs to clarify), is that if the 'general Lotus parking' has a different colour sticker, then a green sticker may get you to somewhere totally different than a red/blue/yellow sticker.

I just don't want people to be moaning at me on the day that they are parked somewhere that they thought they wouldn't - it aint my fault! (but I'm trying to get as much prior info as I can to help everyone out).

All I know at the moment is that a green sticker will get your car into the area where the club displays are located..... and that there is no difference for the 'people' tickets.

Thats my tickets arrived. Yellow pass, that'll be the VIP parking then. To be parked up on track 7.30-9.00, event starts 10.00. so looks like an earlyish bed, no Scotch , and an early drive oot tae Potash Lane .

Hi Dave,
I am having last minute problems in getting my steering rack/pump sorted so its touch and go if its going to be ready, so I do need dropping down to overflow parking because of the uncertainty. Please include in next list update. Thanks. If I cannot bring the car I'll try to get the lotus70 car pass to Trevor to by recycled. (not sure if this should be posted on the 'LEC club stand' section). Hope to see you all! Fingers crossed.
