ELAN 30 / LEC 20 YRS - CASTLE COMBE 24-26th MAY 2019 LIST

[clemo]

THIS IS AS BIG AS IT GETS

The M100 lotus Elan went to market 30 years ago

Lotus Elan Central became a world wide web community 20 years ago .

Seems like a good idea for a party don't ya think ....

Well as luck would have it CLUB LOTUS are happy to celebrate this momentous occasion with us as the FEATURED CAR at Castle Combe race track on the Saturday 25th of May 2019. SOUTH WEST LOTUS wish to tie up with us and support us for this event. Remember the bigger the appearance of M100 cars the more Lotus retailers take notice and reproduce things for us . After last years 30 elan's in attendance we made many magazine articles . So lets aim BIG ..
30 years of M100 + 20 years of LEC = 50 ... Lets see if we can fill the entire track side row and make a huge impact.

Those that have been before will know that this is a nice event where fellow Elan'er get a chance to put faces to names , look at each others cars ,poke around at each other shiny new bits and upgrades , or help fix each others broken bit , get on track as the featured car for a track parade , have a cuppa ( LEC kettle , gas burner , Tea , coffee , sugar provided !) and generally talk about anything . LEC china T cups available as an optional extra.

For those who wish to drive a bit faster laps are available to buy via club Lotus ... and as a bit of an extra bonus we have an EX Lotus F1 driver Philippe Adams and fellow elan S2 owner who can give guidance and scare the hell out of you in your own car. ( subject to him not breaking down en route from France !)

Away from the track we have a great Curry Club night on the Saturday , with this year being a special one we have ( agreed in principal thanks to Elanman) a Very Very important guest . This is possibly the biggest we could get as elan owners . If you ever want to know why your car is the way it is , or why it didn't have ABS then this guest is the one to ask . So if you are sitting on the fence wondering whether to come - Please help us make this one the big one and we will all be rewarded in so many ways.

Accommodation is available in the town , Camping is available with excellent shower facilities ,

For Fun awards will be given for :-

Furthest distance travelled
best in show
Best modifications
Highest mileage
List to be added to when Geoff comes up with other awards!

Many of us turn up on the Friday , others turn up Saturday morning , Some depart Saturday evening , most depart Sunday , though there is often racing at the track on Monday which may well be worth watching ... But whatever you choose we would love to see you.

CONVOYS list to be arranged .
CURRY CLUB list TBA
20 years ltd edition LEC TEA cups and Stickers to be offered ( Price to be confirmed once i know numbers ) This helps put a few quid in the coffers and means there won't be a tea cup shortage like many previous years !

But for now ... who is up for it !!

More news , information and Vip Guests to be announced -

Here is looking forward to seeing you all for our biggest M100 event EVER.

Now to the List ... Who is IN ..

2,

[Giniw]

Great!
I can't be sure yet, but I will try to attend it ^^
(Trevor mentioned the Elan's 30th birthday to Bibs on TLF a bit after the Lotus 70th event and Bibs was apparently not against talking with the factory to organize something too, but that was a while ago. I don't know if it went any further)

[alan e]

alan e ( sound like it will be a good weekend ).

[Rambo]

Oh, go on then. It would be rude not to

Usual camping, beer/cider/banger/burger festival and curry for me

[MPx]

Haven't missed one in nearly 30 years so I'm probably a maybe ...
But I will just be there for the Saturday. Happy planning!

[dapinky]

I agree with most of Clemos' post - but take exception to the suggestion that I have ever failed to provide enough tea for these events.....

....... I'll be there for the whole weekend, but where I'm staying is open to negotiation. Whilst the campsite last year was good for getting to the pub and curryhouse, I actually enjoyed pitching up at the circuit the previous year (and it's free!!).

Either way, I'll be having curry and possibly enjoying a can of cider in the evening, and sleeping either in a tent or the campervan.

[Dave Eds]

20 my unlucky No.

30 even more so.

Don't drink tea or coffee, don't eat curry.

Don't drink alcohol, don't eat meat.

Don't do trackdays

No idea where it is. :

Never told a lie in my life.

No intention of being there!

Now to the List ... Who is IN ..

1. Clemo , 1x Elan LMRG , 1x LEC T Cup , Camping .
2. Jonathan (saltire);

Hoping to have someone who’s seen them before help to fettle my full set of JamieSeals (and maybe even fit the falling pillar ones). PS: can I have the prize for the shortest distance travelled please?

Counting the days . . .

[Saltire]

And on a serious point, I do only live about 3 miles from the curry house and 7-8 miles from the circuit. And I have driveway parking for 8-10 cars. So if anyone needs trailer space / working space / access to tools / parts pre-positioned or anything else close by, please let me know. Jacks and stands available, and I’m even hoping to have a tilting lift by then as well

Look forward to seeing everyone and hoping for decent weather
