My family will be visiting from Godzone, so should stick around for them.

In any case, in 2019 I was with a couple of LECers (or should I say lechers (you know who you are)) who gave it large with a couple of engaging local damsels.

Their beaux were somewhat dischuffed with this ~ we're probably persona non grata in Malmesbury now.

Might pop down for the day, though ..

 I take it you mean me and LECher Phil from Ipswich

I think it was nice that a couple of pretty, young blonde girls thought our chat was more engaging than the boring farts they were with

Sadly the Smoking Dog has recently changed hands and is getting pretty poor reviews locally, so alternative arrangements may have to be made :?

Sorry Dave - I think I mistook you for that other ageing lothario with the orange wheels. I'd forgotten about the breast part

Jonathan - there is a great little pub at the top of Malmesbury up past the market cross and Abbey. Forgotton its name (3 somethings???) but I usually frequent it on the Sunday after CC to watch the F1 race. Good cask ales and ciders

PS only 15 weekends to go and less than 10 on the list

3. Mike - MPx will definitely be there on Sat only and on track, but not sure yet whether in the Elan or Esprit.

Mark - it’s the Three Cups in The Triangle (that’s the name of the road). Just past the kebab shop and the Chinese take away at the posh end of town :) That too has changed hands fairly recently, but is getting good reviews - I haven’t yet been in but our post lady is a regular so I’ll get some more information.

The Kings Arms on the other side of the High Street from the Dog has also had a big refurb since last year - I know some folks stayed there.

Must add myself o the CC list

I can't see many events taking place this year to be honest. The Government took a long time to start to close things down and I fear they will take a lot longer to ease restrictions once we're over the hump :?

Got an email from Club Lotus that said they've cancelled Castle Combe .. Text copied below:

Dear Club Lotus member,
The rapid spread of COVID-19 and recent directives from the UK government are affecting all our lives. We're in dangerous and uncertain times and I wanted to update everyone on how this is impacting our spring events.

We've cancelled our Jim Clark Weekend and our Castle Combe trackday in May. If the situation in the UK improves over the summer we'll look at the possibility of holding these in the autumn. Those of you who have booked places at Castle Combe will be contacted personally over the next few days and we'll be offering either a full refund or a credit for 2021.

MotorsportUK (the governing body for motorsport in the UK) yesterday extended its suspension of all motorsport events until at least 30th June. Consequently the Donington Historic and Classic Nostalgia at Shelsley Walsh have been postponed until further notice but both organisers have told us they hope to be able to find an alternative date later in the year. If you've booked tickets for either event you should go to the respective websites for the latest information regarding refunds.

The HLC Lotus Summer Drive-in on June 7th has been re-arranged and is now scheduled for Sunday 13th September.

As of now, Le Mans Classic and Silverstone Classic are still on but of course this may change in the coming weeks/months. We'll keep you updated as and when we hear more from either organiser but obviously look out for any news yourself.

We've temporarily closed the Club office and AnneMarie, Jane and myself are working from home. We've redirected our telephones and email and you can still contact us as normal for membership renewals, club shop orders and anything else - except toilet rolls... Our office hours are 09.00 to 17.00 Monday to Thursday and 09.00 to 15.30 on Friday.

All monthly area meetings in pubs/restaurants have naturally been temporarily halted.

We're still intending to publish the April issue of Club Lotus News on April 25th but this will be impossible if our printers are forced to close. The issue might also be smaller than usual due to restrictions on paper supply.

We're all in uncharted waters and I implore you to follow government advice and keep yourself and your loved ones safe. This chaos will pass and we look forward to coming out the other side in the not too distant future.

Very best regards,

Alan
Phil

I can report that it's hammering down and blowing a gale in Malmesbury this morning. I've just got back from walking the dog and picking up the papers, and been drenched. So I'm pleased to say you're not missing anything with the cancellation of Castle Combe
Except of course the banter, spontaneous repairs to other people's cars, and the sight of multiple M100s all lined up neatly.
Next year, folks, next year . . . :burnout:

Well, I'd have been sitting in the campervan with a cuppa, watching all the poor people in their tents getting blown around and wet

.... but then getting wet putting up a gazebo in the drizzle, getting it blown away, making tea and having a thouroughly good day!!!! (whilst looking forward to tonights curry).

Still, here's to next year

The Spice Merchant is currently opening every day for takeaways, so perhaps I could order and then we’ll have a Zoom call while you watch me eat it
