Mark, Waitrose cafe is currently closed due to the pandemic. However, I can thoroughly recommend Michael’s of Malmesbury - at the top of the town round the corner from the abbey. Worth giving them a buzz beforehand to check if you need to book.

There are also two good bakers in the High Street, serving takeaway coffee and pastries. One is more or less opposite the Smoking Dog, and the other is further up on the same side of the road.

Hope that helps!

To avoid any chance of it looking anything like an organised convoy, I shall merely be following the car in front of me.....

.... but in case I get lost, I have decided to create a viewable map in Google Maps (dunno if anyone using a fruit-based phone can use the same system!), which can be downloaded and entered into my satnav......

https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/edit? ... 00012&z=13

..... and if anyone uses a SatNav which requires a .KMZ file (Garmin, Google Earth etc), then it can be found (zipped, because Geoff won't unlock the useful features of the forum software) here....

not a convoy route.zip

According to Google, it is a 28Km drive, and will take 30 minutes....... well, good luck in trying to achieve that!

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

I will be checking my tyre pressure at around 7.15 am in the Chieveley Services on the M4 and i think Trevor will be doing the same before rechecking them again at the Pit stop (just to be on the safe side) so please stay away from the Chieveley Services around 7.15 am we don't want a convoy to the Pit stop do we.

For the avoidance of doubt:
We won't be meeting for breakfast around 8:00.
We won't be leaving at around 8:45.

I did see your bright red Elan in my mirror from about one mile away but 2 cars don't make a convoy.

Did you turn off to go into the services ? I was contemplating doing the same just to put an extra layer on, it was certainly cooler than I anticipated
