I seem to remember being followed by one or two people who had breakfast at the Chippenham Pit Stop in 2019. Anyone not interested in my shortcut to Castle Combe, feel free to express an interest below.

We are NOT having a convoy ... but after a breakfast at The Pit Stop, I may get lost unless I follow someone to the circuit.... luckily, I found 50(ish) other Elans to follow last time.....

Oi Smiffy :poke: is this happening or not?

FAQ:-

(1) What time are you planning to arrive at The Pit Stop?
(2) What time are you planning to leave?
(3) Their website says that they are open... but also asks people to pre-register.... have you spoken to them?
(4) They are also doing 'Take Away' breakfasts (plated or baps etc)... so we need the timings!
(5) I need to know whether to eat cereals at the campsite, or grab food before "not" going on a convoy.
(6) Is the 'direct route' you have in mind the same as last time?
(7) Just in case anyone is thinking of joining us here, and they are driving a Range Rover with a trailer on the back (maybe holding a very interesting and previously unseen by us Pre Production Elan), I assume they may wish to drive directly to CC and not via the country lanes.... but you never quite know with John!

Somebody needs to drive the route before hand to make sure there's no loose stones that might fly up and damage our precious cars  :burnout:

It’s not the stones you need to worry about in Wiltshire, Steve. It’s the potholes. Nightmare :?

Or the cow s**t on the road if Geof takes us on the same route as in 2019 :poke:

So does anyone know what time people are not turning up to not be in a convoy which isn’t happening ? Just so i know when not to turn up and not drive in a convoy which isn’t happening?

It appears that Smiffy has done it again... starting a thread and then disappearing, leaving it to others to sort out.....

So,

I know nothing about any convoy (with or without the inclusion of a Volvo), as running a convoy on a public road over a certain number of vehicles would require permissions, which I am not interested in applying for or obtaining.....

The track at CC opens at 0900, so anyone who is intending to do the trackday bit of our annual chin-wag will need to be there in good time for noise testing, signing on, etc etc.

I shall (as I am camping) be getting up at whatever time the rain/wind/gales awaken me, queuing for a covid-free shower, have a cuppa, and then decide to look for somewhere suitable to grab a bite to eat.....

...... it would appear that there is a suitable Truck Stop just off J17 https://chippenhampitstop.com/ which is open for sit-down or takeaway meals.....

As such, I shall be arriving there at something like 0800(ish), with a view to having a bite to eat with another cuppa, and seeing if I accidentally bump into anyone I know (or who I meet for the first time, but happens to be 'part of us').

If I don't meet anyone, I shall drive directly to CC, leaving the Truck Stop at about 0845(ish)....

..... but if anyone else wants to follow Geof (who will possibly get his arse in gear and read this at some stage), then we can all get 'lost' together....... but I would still suggest an 0845(ish) departure time.
Dave

And I will probably be breakfasting on Waitrose's best baclava and espresso as per normal down at the Malmesbury pit stop whilst everyone else gets their act together

Nothing to sort out (apart from the colour coordination if Mr. Two Helmets turns up) so same as last<<<< two years ago. Meet about 8, leave about 9. Saunter over the motorway, turn left towards Stanton St. Quintin and stop to admire the scenery.

NOTE: As there is ANPR on the entrance to Chippenham Pitstop, if you arrive before 8:00 then please advise the staff of your registration or drive out and come in again.
