Saturday evening curry.

Postby dapinky » Fri 16.04.2021, 20:11

According to our man on the ground, Mustafa may need an idea of numbers for a Saturday curry...... no promises (or commitment) as to what may or may not be on the table (see what I did there?) regarding eating in or take away.

So we (obviously) need a list

1) pinky
2) clemo
3) Lee
4) Nick
5) Shelly

Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Right, folks, I’ve been to see the team at the Spice Merchant today.

The good news is that they’ll be happy to see us for an evening curry on 29th May.

They pointed out that in view of the expected restrictions on that date, we’ll need to have tables of 6 with suitable social distancing, and I said we could cope with that - after all, it would be the same wherever we went.

We’ll need to have three (or maybe four) tables of six. That makes an absolute maximum of 24 people. In best LEC tradition, there’s a list below (I’ve copied the previous names across), and the menu is here if you want to get an idea of what they serve (they come from Kerala, which is actually in India, unlike most UK “Indian” restaurants, which are run by Bangladeshis).

I need to give them final numbers in advance, so don’t delay, fill in your name today and join us for a fun evening. Timings to be added shortly.

By the way, position in the list doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll be on a specific table, so don’t worry about filling positions 8-12

Anyway, I will continue to refrain from washing as it has helped enormously with social distancing.

To be confirmed, Clemo, when I have final numbers and book (which I’ll do end of this week). I suspect they won’t want a deposit - because they know where I live - but they may ask for a single bill payer to simplify things. Last year’s bill payer did it so well that I suggest we ask him to do it again. Now how did he spell his name?? :poke:

:gathering:

Is this the curry house we went to with Mr Kimberley a couple of years ago?

It is, indeed Chris.... in fact, it's the curry house we have used for many years at Castle Combe, starting as an unofficial "table for 4", and expanding into a LEC tradition over the years (much as we did on the Friday night at Donington for many years).
