With a nice shiny toolkit you'd win the 1st prize Trevor. That rusty old toolkit is letting you down :x

I realise that these photo's have been posted elsewhere on LEC but just wanted to keep record in one place. I have, since these were taken, cleaned up under
the wheel arches so it looks a bit smarter.

Very poor concours judging imo. The judges should take into account all original equipment and, as as a scrutineer, I would've marked you down for that rusty old spanner and pair of pliers Trevor

Next LEC group gathering we should have a prize for "How good is your toolkit ?"

Oh, and well, done by the way. Justly deserved

Some different pics of 'Merlot' taken in the garage after I'd finished getting her ready for tomorrows
car show at Kings School in Canterbury. Taken on phone in natural light and no flash. I only gave
her a wash and then with Meguiars Quick Detailer and a wipe with Clay cloth, this is the result.

It's been nearly a year since I last updated 'Merlot's' pictures and although those of you who look at Facebook would have seen the most recent
pics, thought it was about time I updated the Forum. I continue of course to do the shows and those of you who went to Castle Coombe would
have seen the photos on various Forums. I have also included some photos of the new hood fitted last year with new header seal (not all in one)
and intermediates provided by Jamie. There is still some work to be done to get the seals exactly right which I hope to do overtime this year.

I wanted to update this picture file with the work done to repair some unusual fault that had occurred this year on the bonnet. What appeared to be a
bubble occurred following the lower and upper inner frame of the bonnet. The problem was looked at by a number of body work experts but none of them
were sure what was happening but importantly no one was willing to take on the problem and have a look and investigate. Eventually I found a fibre glass
shop in Dartford called Constant Fibre Glass that were happy to investigate. They actually discovered it was layers of paint, undercoat and filler that had
creased up against the frame, maybe heat related. They stripped away all the old paint etc back to fibre glass and prepared for new paint.
Photos below of the progress and shows different layers.

Once I got the car back it was taken to Spectrum Paintworx in Newington. They had done the previous respray work back in 2013 so had all the correct
paint codes required to get the correct match.
Photos below of completed job.

We are now looking forward to 2021 so we can get out to some shows and more importantly meet up with some other members soon.

Trevor, Great job with Merlot, the color and the workmanship is the best. So glad to see a few of these cars made new again. So underrated, undervalued.
My interest was especially spiked when I saw your post regarding the old paint creasing against the frame. Please see my photos and is that what you saw?
My whole car would need to be stripped then. I've had it for 21 years, it wasn't that way when I bought it. I want to educate myself before I ask around at paint shops

Hi Peter, it's difficult to see in the photos exactly what is happening and in what area. Although it does appear to be a lot more crinkly than what I experienced. If that makes sense. My problem was more of a bubble going along the bonnet frame where the fibre glass bonded.
It has been worth the expense though to have it corrected. Good luck with your search to find a good fibre glass bodywork specialist.

Trevor,
Its hard to get good photos of this, and in some ways at quick glance the car looks great. Seeing what you have done, gives me encouragement that it can be corrected. I'm pretty sure its the same problem. You can see the pattern of the framing under the bonnet.
Yes finding the right shop is a bit of a challenge.
Thanks,
Peter
