Hi Guys,

A quick update, I have put my Elan in one of these sports car storage places nearby whilst I figure out the best plan, typical that the sun should come out now.

As I am renting for the meantime I begrudge spending a lot on getting a concrete base laid + erecting another garage, I've had some quotes but they come in at around £3000 completed.

Then yesterday I had another idea, how about a shipping container as a garage, it certainly won't blow away, after a bit of digging I found these guys -

http://www.shippingcontainersuk.com/bra ... tainer.php

I reckon I could fit the Elan in a 8ft wide container which I could pick up for around £1500 and with the Carcoon inside it should protect it from any damp? And when I move I can take it with me :-)

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Paul.

So long as you don't move in next door to me with your shipping container, I think that is a terrific idea.

Are there any planning rules on containers?

Watch out it is not taken unexpectedly with your car inside!

Yes this one dawned on me last night, a container makes it extremely easy to steal, back to the drawing board I think.

Thanks Geoff, interesting.

I've decided to go with the below, just need to find someone to lay a concrete base for me, which is proving harder than thought, don't suppose anyone can recommend anyone in the Bedfordshire area?

You can park it my garage. I'll even take it for a spin for you when the sun is out and send you photos of it every year.

OK Guys, here we go with attempt No2 at a garage for the Elan, proper concrete base going down this time and a wooden garage going up next Friday, hopefully it won't get as damp inside like the metal thing did and should be less prone to blowing away, hopefully.

Good thing you were able to save the car before the whole garage collapsed. Good idea about the bubble. I wouldn't let my car be exposed to harmful elements either. Lovely looking car, by the way.

Here is attempt No 2 for somewhere for my M100 to live, only took 1.5 hours to put up compared to the 3 days to piece together the metal one and it seems pretty sturdy, fingers crossed,
