Fisker Karma inspired interior

Postby SilverM100 » Fri 13.02.2015, 21:22

Just bought the vehicle last month. Now sorting out the mechanical and interior. Work in progress. What do you think?

I think it looks very custom, almost like a concept car. Very high end and classy.

Nicest custom interior of an M100 that I've seen posted . Keep up the good work. Post more pictures.

Taking pictures of the progress.

Working on stereo upgrade with 6x9 speakers and shark fin antenna now. Dang broken orange clips.

Glad everyone likes the interior. Will update soon.

That looks like a really high quality job. It really makes the interior much more modern in appearance.

I see that you have two glove boxes in the dashboard. I have only seen Elans with the lower one. Is the upper one standard in the US, or did you add it?

The orange clips are designed to break when you remove them. I bought a bag of them to save me worrying about their loss. I initially tried to get them from a Vauxhall dealership, but their parts department laughed at me. They don't stock anything after 10 years, besides which there were about 20 different orange clips fitted to different Vauxhalls. SJ Sportscars supplied mine with good humour.

The FED car had provision to eventually add a passenger side airbag. There is a passenger side SIR sensor in the electrics design but no air bag in any that I have seen (unless you count the spousal unit).

Wow, I always assumed there was an airbag in there! So we could make a second glove box out that spot with some ingenuity maybe? :poke:

At least a good cup holder :D

I did consider putting a Samsung tablet in that location mounted horizontal and using it as a gps nav unit plus other android stuff (surfing). The internet connection would come from my cell phone with hot spot enabled. Google updates the app and maps regularly enough around here in their back yard.

Decided not to because this is a supercar and it just would not be right for a m100. Instead I updated the stereo with blue tooth. It took forever playing around with where to put the noise canceling microphone but finally ended up on one of the blank switches which seems to work as good as it can. Now my cell nav plays through the speakers. Added an amplified shark fin antenna on the trunk lid and disabled the pop up unit.

Oh, this is a federal.

I just did not see any particular flaws in the original seats. Just added some additional padding for lumbar support. I like the idea of keeping things as original as possible. Even kept the old leathers.

The heated seats make it even more fun to drive.

The drivers side adjustment knob did not function. Discovered it was a broken washer looking thing. Just made a new one from a washer.

Still have not put everything back together yet. Work keeps getting in the way of progress :D
