To be honest, it takes a LOT of photos, and only me and the missus will be taking shots at Stoneleigh and we'll probably come up short!

Sounds great. 8)
Just tell me where to sign, where to send the pic's to, and which pic size and formate you want them in. :!:

There is really no need to apologise :) If you can knock something together for me it would be great, but I'm sure I can hack something up that vaguely does as required .... this lawyer type stuff is easy I'm sure

Looks like I'm not going to be able to make it to Stoneleigh after all due to family commitments. If anyone fancies taking a couple of thousand photos though I'd be happy to put together the image still :?

Well, we'll just have to settle for "Where is the M100" on your current masterpiece! ;)
Many many thanks for that picture!

thread from the dark ages....

Postby popeckia » Sun 16.09.2007, 22:39

I realise this thread is going back a pretty long time now, but after much farting around, I finally launched a website to allow people to build these mosaics themselves (or as part of a group).

It's at http://www.zumyn.com/ - if people are still interested in having a purely Elan mosaic, then I set one up that everyone can add their Elan photos to.

You can get to it by entering 1815130338 in the form on the home page and then following instructions. You need to create an account to add photos and the password for the mosaic is "stripey".

Naturally, if it gets finished and anyone wants a print of it, then I can do discounts against the prices on the site.

On a personal note.... I really miss my Elan (G394KEX) - anyone know if she is still alive?

Well, you can never have too many and it's rather lacking at the moment :)

I seem to recall someone managing a collection of photos from this site, but I can't remember who it was.

If they could be uploaded, then that would certainly help move things along...

Some photos added. With and without permission :-D

We would need at least few hundred of them.

Yeah, I'm afraid that you're looking at around 1600 minimum.... but it'll be worth it in the end :)

well I was sitting looking at it and I let my eyes relax (kinda like looking at those illusions where you see something hidden within the picture) and I already see the front right quarter picture of an Elan! :-D

okay, so since I have SO MANY Elan pics on my computer (from the entire old website database), I dug into the archives and pulled out tons of oldies and goodies! I tried to include all sorts of interesting pictures. I think I put in over 100--so hopefully this will help get the database going. :-D

I've added to the red hue :D although I think it's going to end up looking a bit like this:

Starting to see it coming together now Geoff. Need another 500 Elan related pics or so.

I recall seeing a software selling at Costco that can do just that. Then we can probably take the file to Kinko's for a large/or carvas print.

If not, do they have volume discount?

Not sure we have that many people who want a mosaic pic of Stripey.

No need to take it to anyone else - you can order prints direct from me, and we ship rolled paper/canvas pictures internationally. As it's LEC, I can do everything except the framed option for 25% off, I'll sort out a discount voucher for it once it's finished.

Also, once it's done, people will be able to produce a version with their own car as the main picture, using all the same small pictures.

popeckia,
:smt023
Nice idea, and some really good software which is quick to use (I uploaded some pictures last night). It doesn't work with my Mac running OS9 (although I suppose it might work with OSX), so I had to use the ElanScan laptop to upload pics.

Can't wait to see the result. It should take pride of place on the Donington stand next year.

Good luck with the business,
John

Thanks :)

I have to admit that it's rather lacking in Mac testing, or more accurately, Safari testing - if you use Firefox then it should all be fine. Making it work properly on Safari is on the long long list of things to do....
