Insurance - Which Company To Use For Daily Driver

Postby Simon_P » Fri 16.08.2013, 11:46

Hi All,

It is about ten years since I have had the Elan as my main car. Which companies are worth phoning for normal insurance?

Some now consider the Elan for classic insurance any worth trying for a daily driver? I see from the other thread that FJ now do unlimited mileage.

Thanks,

Simon

I have my Elan with Peter James.

Unlimited mileage, commuting allowed, agreed value and upgrades declared (mainly declaring an Everest chip). Wife, son and daughter as named drivers. Europe wide breakdown cover. They also accepted LEC as a legitimate club for a discount - just give them your "membership Number" (Instructions for getting your membership number are here)

They weren't the absolute cheapest quote but their overall cover was so much better for an extra ten or fifteen quid.

I'm not saying they will be best for you but they have to be worth a try.

Thanks Inkitin, I tried PJ who said I had to have an existing Classic car policy with them (maybe the S2 is still too young)

Footman James - can only do it as part of a group policy - because of my other cars the price wasn't sensible when I had enough mileage.

2gether - Couldn't get me a sensible quote

Adrian Flux - Very good service from a man called Jordan - Nearly halved my esure premium, better cover, more extras, £250 excess (down from£500) - They have my Money!
