California Insurance

Postby CalElan » Tue 28.04.2015, 23:20

Just signed up with Hagerty for 12 months.
Agreed Value $12000, limited to 5,000 miles
2 other vehicles in household - I'm 50 <--- seems a big number when you write it down..
$376 pa

Didn't really shop around but seems reasonable.

I've been with Grundy for seven years now. I received my renewal; they bump the agreed value up a little each year. Smaug is now valued at (gulp) $25000. The premium? $172.76!!! That's per year. Very low driving miles but still, this seems ridiculously inexpensive. I am happy. :-D

Thanks for your feedback - What do you call ridiculously low mileage?
Seems like I should give them a try at renewal - How did they go about agreeing your value?

Thanks again..

These days, I only get Smaug out about once a month, maybe 100 miles at a crack, maybe less. So between 1000 and 1500 miles per year? I'm not 100% sure about the agreed value - it's been 7 years - but if I recall, it was as simple as stating what the car is worth on the application and them buying off on it. Having said all this, I've never submitted a claim for anything, so I have no idea how good they are in the clinch.

Up until this year, my premium was more like $300/year, cheaper than Hagerty every time I checked but not by much. This renewal, there was a huge drop to the number quoted above. I guess they like me.

You're welcome! Now, let's just hope neither of us actually needs to use the insurance. :)
