Can't quite work out what's happened here.

DVLA says that reg belongs to a green S2.

I guess the reg could have been sold since the MOT was done, but then I don't think it would show up on their database anymore ?

Either that or the guy went the long way round and put 75,000 miles on it since April and resprayed red ?!

If I were a suspicious sort of person, maybe I'd suspect that the owner has taken his elan to Cyprus and tried (succeded?) to hide it's true identity by cloning a number in a bid to circumvent the import regulations which would require a stringent MOT amongst lots of other red tape.....

.... whether he actually is entitled to that reg number is a different arguement....

....*If* I were looking to consider a purchase, I'd need a very convincing set of explanations before I even got down to negotiating money (as the answers would reflect any offers made - if I even wanted to open the can of worms).

The index number certainly used to belong on the green elan owned by LEC member "saska" (RIP) - and then the car went into the ownership of M100hoods - what happened after that is anybodys' guess.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually.....

Sorry guys, came on here a bit late to the party and the link above is going to a 404!!!

I only ever saw one other Elan whilst I was over there, a rather tatty looking silver thing in Coral Bay, Paphos with English plates (G896 RSA). I posted up at the time.

There is one allegedly in Nicosia though I've not seen it, other than that I believe mine was the only one on Island though maybe Cliff has his out now and again Larnaca way.

M100 Hoods are not a favourite firm of mine so wouldn't touch anything relating to them.

Not mine, given the state of the roads around Ayia Napa & Ayia Thekla, I doubt my suspension would last 5 minutes. I have never seen another one in the Larnaca/Napa area.

The guys who inspect imports in Larnaca are very hot on chassis & engine numbers, when I took the Megane Cabrio down, they couldn´t read the engine number and I had to get a letter from Renault stating which engine was in the chassis before they would do the paperwork.

I checked mine out before I shipped it, frightened myself because the engine numbers didn't seem to tally (I think I was misreading a Gearbox No in the vicinity of where the engine no is stamped) very relieved when I found the correct number, but it's a nightmare to find and read. The Chassis no is easier and I cleaned it up prior to the inspection for ease.

My masterstroke was to give it to a Cypriot, along with details etc and send him to register it on my behalf.

Obviously had the right DNA.

Sadly, a lot of things in Cyprus still depend on who you are related to especially official stuff, government jobs etc
