Cat on Skates - OZwheel Centres

Postby BFG in the BRG » Wed 25.02.2009, 17:27

Hi all,
Sorry for starting a new thread but I couldn't find anything suitable (no doubt someone will provide a link)
I want to put some Wheel Centre badges on my Oz-Wheels and was thinking rather than the standard Lotus symbol, the LEC "Cat on Skates" symbol would be fun, more appropriate, and a bit different.

A Company called vintagevarnish on Ebay can do them - I'm just checking on the price.
1) Are there any objections - (copyright or otherwise)?
If there are no objections to using it.......
2) Does anyone have the cat on skates in a higher resolution than on the forum?
3) Would there be any objection to me changing/deleting the wording - (although I don't know even if I want to)? - eg. to "Elan M100" or "Elan SE" at the top, "Lotus" at the bottom.
assuming there are no objections to the wording change.......
4) Whats the best program to edit the wording?
5) Which font was used?
6) Any suggestions on the wording, ("clean" answers only please)?
7) Have I just become an Elan anorak?
Waddyathink?
Alas soon to be Elan-less

I used a version of the logo that's here on the forum when I had some decals made. The decals are 3 3/4 inches in diameter (significantly larger than the wheel centers) and the resolution is excellent. The guy who made the decals used some kind of high-tech, vector graphics software, which he used as easily as I type. Probably, the company that you're looking at using to make the centers has similar software, and they'll do any changes for you, although, I suspect changing the text on the logo would be pretty easy with any photo-editing software.

I'm pretty sure the logo in the link in this thread is the one I used.

Here is a pic of the decal I had made. The quality is very good. It would be even better printed the size of a wheel center. Also, the guy who made it could have made it even better if I had wanted to wait around for another hour or so. This was at a mall kiosk, not where I live, and I didn't want to wait. he would have enhanced the colors (which are actually much richer in reality than in the picture), and the resolution more if I gave him more time.

Thanks Chris,

I have that decal on the windscreen - although for some reason it keeps trying to peel off - dunno why!

Can whoever made those do another run? There are a bunch of new people here (me included) since then.

I still have the stuff from last time and am willing to do it again if we get enough people
IIRC they were about £5 for a set.....these are just the stick on badges that go over the wheel centre that you already have :)
I'll need to check with them again but as I say Ive not got a job at the mo Ive got time to sort it out
cheers

All I can say about the last ones...

They stick like sh1t to a blanket, won't even peel off if you try...

Don't fade and still look the same as the day they when on

I got a spare set because I thought they wouldn't last, but they did....

The cat on skates was the Lotus logo during development. If you talk to Gareth (theelanman) nicely, he might even be able to find you a cat on skates pin badge!

Apparently Lotus appointed a logo for each project they did - or at least they used to - and a "cat on rollerskates" was the one chosen for the M100.
Don't know what others there are for other models - (but I bet there is someone on the forum who does)
