I was doing about 70mph and it was slightly damp, i don't know if the N/S locked up on me or something went on the suspension. But i doubt it. 1st time i've spun in a car just a shame there was a barrier in the way. Boy am i going to feel this tomo's! So i'll have to get on the phone to the insurance on monday.
Someone told me that i'll beable to claim personel injurys,is this true, and can i claim even if it was my own fault for the incedent? i'm fully comp and ambulance man said i should go to the hospital for a check up as i've got a right lump on the back of my head. :-/

Cheers Guys, accidents happen, just feel sick for a ll the hours i put in to her. Oh well, life goes on and i will be looking for a good SE or maybe an S2 if i have no probs with the insurance. I will try and buy her back for spares if they don`t ask silly money for it.
though you must have done something wrong in a previous life given the bad luck with that motor
Yep i`ve had some bad luck with this car, but maybe she just couldn`t handle all the attention i gave her. ::)

Paul has taken some pic`s, but there on a roll of film. Just have to wait till he gets them developed

Yeah, with Alan, Clemo, and Will all having extra Elans, maybe you can get a good one from them.

Too bad it was yer first spin in th Elan--it's probably worth everyone doing it the first time in controlled conditions [no walls and much slower than 70 :) ](1) to know it can happen, and (2) to know how not to let it happen again.

Worth dopin' up on the anti-inflammatories now or you'll wish you had tomorrow! They'll help the hangover too . . . :-/

Good to hear you walked away Monty! Pinky's sacrifice for all the hours you put into her! ;)
I don't know how insurance works in the UK, but I would definitely ask the agent about filing an injury claim. Not that you may have aches and pains now, but the body has a nice way of hiding those aches and pains until the shock is over and things go back to normal. You want to make sure that this happened and is reported to your carrier as related to the "occurrance."
PM me if you'd like to discuss.
Cheers!
Jack

The whiplash doesnt set in for a couple of days, so get to the docs ASAP.

Do everything they advise and file a personal injury claim. You're going to have to claim for the car so claim for everything you're entitled to cover on, thats why you pay your premium every year. If the doctors offer physio etc take it. I still hurt on cold days since a nasty smash 5 years ago, I brushed off medical assistance as I felt fine.

Glad you could walk away, sorry to hear about pinky :(

I think everything's been said, both sentimentally and advice-wise mate.
Truly sorry to hear this news Jay, but good will come from it somehow, sometime, you just might not be able to envisage it yet...Go and have a check up; sooner rather than later!
You didn't fit one of those dodgy Esprit TBJs that SJS were trying to pass off as Elan parts did you?
Rob fitted a pair and found one on his garage floor after Rach had been to work in the car!
I don't think you'll let this happen, but don't be tempted to rush back into Elan ownership. The insurance process will be torturously slow and you'll get bloody frustrated with the apparent lack of progress.
There are good Elans out there, but you might not find one immediately and you're experienced enough in this field to be able to let your head overrule your heart when it comes to finding a suitable replacement.
We aren’t going any place, so take your time and don't go looking at cars until you're in a position to buy...it'll only add to the frustration.

Lecture over!

Piss take starts:

Shall I scratch you off the Donington assembly list then?
Gutted for you Monty :'(
Just my opinion and not based on any facts but if you can I would 'put in a safe place' all you can ;). Stuff like radio, toolkit, mats etc. You can always give them back if they ask!

Your health is far more important than any car no matter how much sentimentaly bonded you are with it. Monty my 2 cents are that I am glad that you walked away in one piece healthy. Elans are around, go for a pinky 2. Pinky 1 would really wanted you to do so.

Costas
Would love to buy pinky back, but i don`t know how much damage it has done to the front suspension. See what happens.

Jay, really sorry to hear this bad news. I actually drove past you both on my way to Anfield. I saw the ambulance and police car before spotting the Red and Blue Elans in front. There didn't appear to be that much damage (looking from the back seat of a Honda doing 70 mph on the M62/M60). Just glad that you're in one piece.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Briggsy.
