Re: Spotted: Silk Red?? In Wiltshire

Postby Saltire » Fri 04.12.2015, 23:47

Coming north into my home village yesterday morning at around 11:45, there was a red Elan on the forecourt of the Crudwell Garage on A429. Not for sale, so presumably awaiting MoT or similar. Either it was Silk Red or the Calypso had faded to an *extremely* strange colour. Or the owner had the temerity to respray it a non-Lotus colour

First one I've seen while out and about.

Weds 9th Dec pm at B & Q Welwyn Garden City, Herts.

Medina Green.

Spoke to the owner and told him to look in here as he had experienced difficulties with getting spare parts. He has had the car nearly 20 years.

Hopefully he may be along soon!

White S2 M*** KJT leaving Paul Matty's this morning at about 10.15am

Sorry Geoff but I didn't get the Limited Edition number as it was doing about 70 at the time it passed me so I could get the registration number!!

Looks like it had a respray on the rear end as the boot badge had a 'Lotus' badge on the left and 'Elan' on the right but it didn't have the S2 decal.............. :|

While in Thailand recently, I visited a place near Pattaya called Nongnooch Park.
It has lots of concrete animals, some real Llamas, a tiger & an Elephant show.
The owner seems to have a personal collection of cars on display too: over 50 including a GT40, 2 Hummers, a 340R, 2 Exiges a Caterham 7, 2 Esprit S4s, a 2-Eleven & this:
The front wheels had a coating of brake dust & the battery seemed to be on charge so I guess it was just about ready to drive.

Interesting paintwork. Doesn't spoil the shape and I doubt there's another like that..

Fascinating, I'd like to see more pictures of this, it's a pity the flag has yellow strips though being a NMY care I guess it had to be to look right, now if you had a Monaco white car it could look the bees knees, wait a minute, I do have a Monaco white car

I have a couple more but I left my PC exporting my holiday pics to jpeg when I left for work this morning.
I also have some of the owner's other cars. I mainly took pics of his Lotus collection though :-D

It was cordoned off. I couldn't see the dash or rear for S2 signs. :(
