whats the point in asking or joining in the conversation???.....
Im confused.....

No shackles can be placed upon will, desire, or inclination. The liberty within a man cannot be made prisoner or placed in chains. An individual's choices are the results of their own desires and preferences, and not forcibly overridden by external forces.

Fear of hammers?

Noooo. Because anyone I'd likely talk to would call it a hammer. As simple as that.

Yes, guilty. I do try not to dole out punishment as a social business though.
Now, I posed this to the professor who teaches Medical Communications @ UF and he says 'ol Jackonicko is 100% correct. He also told the class to use this phrase in conversation, even if it didn't apply, so here's hoping you never endure an endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (koh-LAN-jee-oh-PAN-kree-ah-TAWG-rah-fee), or ERCP for short.
Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.

Not:
koh-LAN-jee-oh-PAN-kree-ah-TOGG-rah-fee?

Similarly, I always like to know what is legal, but that doesn't mean I'll obey the law 100% of the time. Perhaps the whole concept of personal freedom is not whacked into English schoolchildren from the beginning. In any case, there is a live & let live mentality which permeates US society. Thus the vicissitude of your concern for my personal behavior was unexpected.

I'd have thought that a free-thinker like you would decide pronunciation for himself, not rely on some book.
Is it also fott-aw-grah-fee (photography) and sin-emma-taw-grah-fee (cinematography)?
I think not!
You're quite right - the "whole concept of personal freedom" is not whacked into English schoolchildren from the beginning. We rely on innate common sense rather than indoctrination.

OK, that's fine with me. Can we all reign in the drama please? We have each explained our positions and logic honestly. That is all one should expect of a casual acquaintance.
