If you use the last four numbers of your VIN and look at This it will narrow it down to a month.

If you want to know more about your car, contact Hethel archives direct and obtain a certificate of provenance (£25 when I got mine).

They hold the cars build book on record,

Here's an example of one of mine

Hope that helps

Phil

Are you still collating UK SE info onto a database? If so I will PM you my car details.

I only got it in August: it had 3 previous owners (I know all their names if not current location!) and is still on its original plate. It's gradually working its way south, having started road life in Scotland, it's now in Warwickshire. So it will be easy to check if you have it already, but under a previous owners name.

If it's in the database I can find it by Reg or VIN but there are a lot of gaps to fill and a lot of cars missing.

PM me the details if you can.

Thanks,

Phil

I have an Elan, but it far from being ready to drive, and is 200 kms away, so I can't just pop outside and gather the information. I will get it together and send it to you though.

And since the buy-it, buy-it, buy-it part of my brain is soon taking me to look at an Elan that actually is running, I'll get all the details of that too. This is what I know about that car at the moment: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=25116 if you have anything in the register I'd like to hear!

Many thanks

Hi Phil.

As LotusRescue, I currently have 2 cars. One being a 92 SE which I have rescued after being partially abandoned 10 years ago. As far as I can tell, she was exported not long after being 1st registered, the re-imported in 2000. At this point she was made a cat N write off, bought back and repaired. Originally Red, she was changed to Yellow. Registration number is J29 KHY. to date I have had a new screen fitted as the original was smashed, apparently a roof tile went through it about 5 years ago. The car had a fantastic covering of moss, leaves and other debris, but is now looking great after some deep cleaning and a machine polish. Now fully serviced, new exhaust, cat, brakes, tyres and a host more new parts. Presently still having minor electrical issues which is preventing her from getting a new MOT as the emissions are sky high. The second car I have is an N/A, this one had also been abandoned after the previous owner getting a huge bill for repairs and still failed to get an MOT. Purchased by me as a none starter. Simple fix as the fuel shut off had been activated. Now requires finishing off which will include a new drivers door window (broken) ball joints and brake imbalance fixed. Registration of the Metallic Blue one is. No H 185 XCK.
