It depends, there's a few, contact Andy Graham at Lotus archives, he'll tell you which radio was fitted, my guess is the optional extra of the Blaupunkt montreux RDR49.

It worth paying for a certificate of provenance from Andy at Lotus aftersales, if you need his email addy just say.

Need to get one of these for Smaug, too. Especially interested to find out if it has the older paint formula or new one since it was made exactly at the time of the changeover.

Mine was manufactured in March 1991 and had a Clarion 20 radio cassette player fitted as standard. This lasted until 2004 when I replaced it with a Pioneer 3630 which is a much better piece of kit.
If you need photos or anything let me know as I still have the piece of junk in the garage somewhere.

That's brilliant Ray, that's my question for the weekend,

If you have an old radio, can you take a photo of it, if it''s not posted?

I'm getting there with the Blaupunkt Montreux, but can't pin down everything with it. I can pin down alot, but not all Montreux RDR49's are the same, there are some very subtle differences depending on which make of car they were fitted to.

Also I'm trying to work out the base model to the top of the range optional extra. I think I've got this worked out, but again I'm not 100%.

Whilst googling the subject, I came across this site: http://www.radiomuseum.org/m/blaupunkt_d_en_1.html

every blaupunkt model you ever wanted to see. Blau has a habit of recycling model names, Montreaux being one of them. I'm guessing you'll find the model number more meaningful. Maybe the entries here (some of which show year of manufacture) will help narrow things, too.

Been there.. :-D

I'm talking about the uber geeky stuff.. :-D

things like what the difference between the Lotus (GM) blaupunkt Montreux RDR49 and the VW or Audi blaupunkt Montreux RDR49, I think I know the differences and could tell them apart, but at first impression they are identical.

I'm going to make up a thread in the next few days.
