Badges/ Logos diameters, Floor mats... Please help

Postby Don.Hasi » Sun 18.12.2005, 11:31

I have searched this and other boards already... the web, too....

Is it right, that the bonnet badge sizes 2 1/8 inch diameter?

I think, the colours are a deep green and a strong yellow with a trend to orange?

Further in the partslist of Matty there is for the S1 a position called: "Plinth, fascia badge A100U0261F" Image what and where in the car is this?

And last one: the floor mats... I found the posted Bell&Colvill, which were produced from Lotus? But they aren´t the original ones?
Image

In the whole board I haven´t found any picture to this... Has anybody a piccie of the whole original mats?

I have as usual to thank you in advance :-)

Sit in your driver's seat and look to your right, just above the glove box - that's - Plinth, fascia badge A100U0261F.

As far as I know those are the original mats - or as near to the original as you will get these days.

Thanks Sy, once more

Over the glovebox isn´t there the "Design by lotus"-Sticker (S1) or the ltdnumberplate (S2) ?

Don,
I have floormats like the one in your picture. They came from Lotus about 5 years ago. I am not sure but I believe that Lotus now have run out of stock or only have one side remaining. The small grey Lotus badge is a sort of rubber or plastic.

There are several kinds of Lotus bonnet badge so beware when buying them. I think that they are all the same diameter of 2-3/8" (57mm).

Elan badges are metal with two threaded pegs (like bolts) on the back spaced about 28mm apart (best check, that's from memory). "Lotus" is written in the "modern" font which is a serif font (ie not just blocky letters but with fancy wings on the letters - see picture). I think they are out of production.
There is another metal badge which is identical to the Elan's except that the bolts on the back are wider apart (38mm between the centres). You would have to drill new holes, but then you would not be able to get at them to put the nuts on (the bonnet is double-skinned at that point with recesses to allow nuts to be put on).
The modern Elise ones are the same diameter as ours but are made of plastic and are cheaper to buy (about half the price). I think they have two plastic pegs which locate into holes and the rear of the badge has a sticky pad for attachment.

Don't buy this one, which is too big:

Good luck,
John

I thank You for your detailed information John :-)

So the Elan bagde is somethin inbetween... I had have already found the esprit compilation too. So good luck, that i ´ve asked the community :D

Concerning the bolts/nuts.... the kia one hasn´t any  On the the other side i´m free for chosing similar ones. But I like even the metal versions most :smt050

Floormats: What are your experiences with this smaller ones? I think, one couldn´t brace (?) on the side beside the driver, when the guy who rotates the steering wheel selects the "full-throttle-ahaid-mode" :-D  If so, aren´t taller, but not original  , mats better for holding the cockpit clean?

BTW: thx for the good advise that big isn´t better in this case

The grey mats with the Lotus badge in an embossed grey rubber (like the picture) were original and factory supplied in 1995. Mine have worn well and are easy enough to take out and clean. Ideally they should come with the fixings that hold them to the main carpet to stop them sliding forward. If anyone knows where to get these fixings other than supplied with the mats I could use a set (one side or 2 fixings only).

These are my mats... I'm guessing they are the originals as they are a bit worn on the back (think the water got to them!) They are longer than the ones you can get now and seem to fit better :-D

If anyone knows where to get another set of these please let me know. I have the new ones but they are not so great.

If you get a new bonnet badge check the distance between the holes in the bonnet and the the screws on the back of the badge

Thx Klaus :D

Cjay : Thx you too, this is what I wanted to know  So, if yours are longer and you want even some new, why don´t you take yours to a specialized manufacture and let take them a pattern... Afterwards you mail us the pattern too and so we serve the whole community: You for Australia, someone for europe and some other for America....

What Du you mean :-) ?

btw: I have no holes in my bonnet

Thx for everything :)

I had some custom mats made a few years back...I posted about them back on the old board, but I don't think it ever made it over... I sent them my original full mats to use as a template, they made a new set and embroidered the logo for me. They were pretty reasonably priced also.

Picture doesn't show them very well, but you get the idea:

Unfortunately, I can't remember the name of the company! I might be able to find them again though...

Looks fine regarding the dimensions.

If you got any further information, please post them again.

Thx :-)

I looked back through my old stuff, unfortunately all I have is his Email address/first name. It was in 2003, so I have no idea if he is still doing them or if the address is still good; but if you would like I will PM it over to you...just let me know.

Yes :-) Please do so....

But what we need are the measurements of your mats, the template.

There are enough floormats-manufacuters also in germany, so there is no greater need to produce them in GB, cause to coach a foreign company in a bad spoken language... don´t know whether I get the result that it should be    and the plus on exchange, delivery, taxes, ... Image But without the dimensions... no mats :(

So gimme the contact please and I will see :-)

Could you please make a several piccie of the highend of the mats?Image

Thx in advance

Don - I think you can still get the nose badge from Lotus - its part: A100U0178F - though its not cheap at about £50. I got a perfect one from a breaker for £20.

Just so as you know, Lotus actually make bespoke car mats, with a logo of your choice, price is around £60. I know this is true, cause i ordered mine last week.
