I've recently sourced oil for my other car (a rare Ralliart Galant VR4 twin-turbo which although very powerful is nowhere near the Elan when it comes to handling) and found that it was the same grade as recommended for the Elan (fully synthetic 10W-30). Apparently the turbos don't like the very low viscosity stuff.
Anyway, after a bit of research it appeared one of the best quality oils (if not best quality?) is the AMSOil which appears to be imported from the States (I'm in the UK). One of the few (maybe the only official) distributor in the UK is Performance Oils Ltd. I needed the oil in a hurry (for service) and this company, at their own expense, arranged for it to be delivered next day. The chap I spoke to (Don) was very helpful.
I noticed that ClubVR4 have made an arrangement with Performance Oils so that they get 10% discount for registered (and paid up) members. I asked Don if he would be willing to offer a similar discount for Lotuselancentral registered members and he said yes. He also said their policy was never to approach groups such as LEC but wait to be invited.
If this is of interest to the group (mainly of use to UK members I guess) maybe an Administrator of this forum could contact me (or maybe Performance Oils Ltd direct) to arrange to get the promotional code and publicise the offer on the forum somewhere.
I'm nothing to do with this company but their service looks good and they sell what appears to be one of the best quality oils so I thought I'd raise the issue over a 10% discount for LEC members. Apologise if this sort of 'advertising' posting isn't allowed on the forum.

Currently using AMSOil, I am told from various sources that
IT IS of the best quality and by far not a commercial oil. It is rather expensive though. If you acomplish a good price I am interested as well.
Thats the one I am using

David
If you could get a post-discount price for this AMSoil, it would stimulate a discussion as to its worth. But, thanks for posting this - all discounts help.

We would be please to offer L E C members a 10% discount on our products. Whilst we are the Amsoil importers and generally supply trade customers, we are happy to supply private individuals in whatever quanties are required. If admin is happy we would be please to set up a discount code and have it shown here.

Was this 10% AMSOil discount ever set up for LEC members? I've recently spent about £150 on three bottles for the Elan and VR4 so a 10% discount is worth having. Thanks.

I am now officially offering LEC members a 10% discount off products in out online store
http://performanceoilsltd.co.uk/onlinestore.html
The special LEC discount code is LEC10 and orders over £100 are also carriage free.
Performance OIls are the sole Importers for Amsoil in the UK and have always in the past supplied trade until a year ago when they started selling to the public via this online store.
If admin could place this offer where appropriate if considered suitable it would be good.
Regards Don
