Please contact there's only on f in Geof Smith for/with S2 details.

I'm trying to get together a list of all S2's, mainly to find out how many in each colour and how many are still left.

I have some details of about 310 cars but would like to fill in the missing gaps. If you have an S2, the details I'm after are.

Limited edition number
Colour
Hood Colour
Leather including piping or Half leather
Lhd or Rhd
Mileage
Reg
Exact date of registration
VIN number
Engine number
Extras and Upgrades like Nardi/Aircon/Brakes/Chips/Exhaust/Suspension

Let me know your details and e-mail address by PM or to gs[DOT]curtis[AT]ntlworld[DOT]com and I will send you a copy of the list.

Thanks Gary

Richard is a man of high principles, Gary. He may be reluctant to impart his vast Elan knowledge. His database has been his labour of love for over 14 years now.
I have his e-mail address (if you need it). And I'm happy to vouch as to your integrity if he wants references.

Richard knows me as Simon Vickers.

Let me know if help's required.

Sy,

Any chance of making this a sticky or giving it its own topic area to keep it to the fore?

Gary: That is a very good idea, not only for collectors. It could be very important for buyers too, when a car was called to be damaged and appears on the road again. The body of our babies are very simple to repair, so no one would notice a greater accident in a normal case.

The community of my other "weekendburner" Image collects the VINs of the cars too for the case that s.o. has drilled some spares together and cause Lotus sometimes dices the numbers

only a small hint  and keep on with this good work

Don

Cheers for the comments, I'm not recording VIN's for the moment at least, because every S2 has it's own little ID plaque for everyone to see on the dash. This is also the last 3 numbers of my VIN number. :) I'm not 100% sure but think this is true for all S2's.

Continuation from yesterday when site appeared to go down for a long time:

There was a thread which claimed that this is true (I think Nige was involved and was offering scanned copies of the S2 limited edition certificate), although I cannot find it again. I checked my V5 and it ends 2493 so obviously doesn't work for mine.

Additional info since yesterday:

Check the car and it reads 26493 (yes I did check it when I bought it, I'm sure it was right and can't see how I missed the missing '6'. I've found the original V5 and that is the same so a lot of other people have missed it!) so it still doesn't work and it looks like I'm going to have to get in touch with DVLA or whaever acronym Swansea goes by these days.

The Limited Edition and last 3 digits of the VIN numbers generally works but there are exceptions as some people seemed to have managed to reserve the numbers when they first were released and they just got the next VIN code off the line.

Gary

Today I was at a set of lights in Pont street london next to S2 ~392 - azure blue , cream leather , rhd, M reg, they went green before I could take much more notice of it. I banged on the window and explained that mine was #521 - fellow thought I was raving until I pointed to his plaque.

Good spot, did you not try to get his VIN number from above the rear wheel

I seem to be missing your VIN from the database, let me know and will forward a updated list.

Keep up the good work. 8)
