Seats

Postby mark » Fri 13.05.2005, 20:41

My seats are in pretty sad shape, and I am shopping for new ones. While there are alot of websites that sell seats, and for pretty decent prices, I prefer to at least sit a few out before buying them. Does anyone know of stores in the bay area that actually have seats on display? Most places don't stock them but just have them dropped shipped from the distributors. The only place that I found so far is the shop at Infineon which carryies only Sparco.
thanks

Mark, there's a Recaro dealer/distributor near me in Dublin and they had lots of seats to try out the last time I was there a few years ago. As you know, even when you find one you like, adapting and actually fitting it into the car can be a challange :).

i went up to Infineon today to try out a few seats. almost all the aftermarket seats have "wings" that bulge out by the shoulders. And because of the rollbar shape, none of these are going to fit in the car. I'll have to look at getting my stock seats rebuilt, and see if bigger shoulder and thigh bolsters can be added for more support.

Does anyone know of a good seat shop that does custom work around the bay area?

i just found a Corbeau seat that fits also, the GT7. It is about the same dimensions as the stock seat, with larger bolsters and holes for a harness - no shoulder wing.

FINISH? Surely a dedicated Lotus owner can never be really finished :-D.

Here's the latest addition to my S3:

At any rate, Happy Holidays and Lotusing to one and all in the New Year!
