Postby JLSELAN » Fri 25.08.2006, 00:50

Where has the summer gone?
Time again for another British Car Meet show in Palo Alto on Sunday, Sept. 10. See calendar link on GGLC site:
http://www.gglotus.org/
for details of pre-meet gathering for coffee at 9AM before "parading" to the site.

Cheers, Joel

My bad--Sunday is the 10th, of course!
Between posting and traveling, I don't always look at the calendar .

Palo Alto Meet

Postby jabrown39 » Thu 07.09.2006, 22:54

I'll be there. The GGLC has a great turn out each year. They meet up down the street before 9am and motorcade in. I might not make it by 9am, but will definitely be going near then. Late arrivals just pull in, pay $25 for each "entered" car and drive over to the Lotus area. Hopefully we will be along the street in the shade again.

Talk everyone into going that you know. For those of us with sort of interested freinds and family, they stroll along the cars, shop at the mall, and come back to find out if anything has changed after a couple of hours. It is free to all spectators who will park in the Stanford Shopping Center lot and walk over.

There will be bangers again, but you can always stroll over to the mall to get something to eat. I always bring a ice chest with lunch and something to keep me happy in the sun.

People start leaving in ones and twos around 2 but it goes until late.

GGLC PRE-MEET COFFEE
GGLCers will meet at Peet's Coffee in the Town & Country Center at the corner of El Camino & Embarcadero in Palo Alto at 9am and then tour as a group to the British Car Meet.

DIRECTIONS - Take Hwy 101 to Palo Alto. West on Embaracadero. Turn RIGHT into Town & Country at El Camino. OR take 280 to Menlo Park, then exit onto Sand Hill east. Continue on Sand Hill, then right at El Camino. Make U-turn at Embarcadero & the RIGHT into Town & Country.

See ya there,
Jim

That's great Jim. I will be looking for a Calypso Red Elan with newest, shiniest paint job then. :m100:

Looks like we will have a nice turnout (and a beautiful day, to boot). Latest word is that the Tesla electric supercar (quasi-Elise) will also make a showing :D.
Hope to see everyone there--this year driving my S3 Elan.

I'll be there. I'm flying in from Vegas on Saturday night. I may however be in my Dad's Healy instead of the Lotus but We'll see as the time gets closer.

Great Day in Palo Alto!

Postby JLSELAN » Mon 11.09.2006, 16:39

It was a super event this year with a nice turn out of a variety of Lotus models.
Some pics have been posted on the Elise forum:

(starting at post 27).
We missed you, Doug--but Stripey still makes a statement in Ekapol's capable hands :-D.

Thanks to everyone who was able to make it!

Do you know who owns the red Elan? I just wondered how the roll bars had been finished off / covered?

The red Elan is Kjeld's. I believe the rollbar came from Marie's 1st batch. The finish is gray leather wrapped.

LOL, Doug--I hope Ekapol had some antacid handy :D.
BTW, my classic Elan and I did have a great day in Palo Alto--even to the point of being chosen by the judges as the car that best represented the "spirit" of Lotus at the meet :-D.

Thanks, Ekapol.
I have to admit she shows well (a Classic Stripey 8)), but what's just as important is that she drives even better .

Yep thats Kjeld's elan. Both cars are finished fairly similarly. His is the only other Elan with the double bubbles, LGM BOV pipe and LGM exhaust. The cars are like sisters in a way. In the background is Ekapol and wife, Marie and wife and finally Marie's dad :D unfortunately sans Healey.

Joel, very nice! Great to see all of the GGLC guys again, too!

Hey there,

I pitched up at this event quite by accident (here in Menlo with work, and heading down the Fry's and noticed a fantastic array of motors!). Nice to meet another elan enthusiast (hi Jim! (jabrown39's red elan btw)). Convinced me (simply by looking under the bonnet) that my car needs a new hose set, wilwoods, that super dial a boost map and dump valve.

Some smashing cars at this bash, mostly british classics, tr2->7, spits, few posh porches, nice looking 308 (whats with that front grill?) and a messerschmit (sic) bubble, yay!. 2 Deloreans, few classic astons (the volante was very nice), too a few too many minis and landrovers.

Lots of esprits (never seen one before, remarkably tempting, are these expensive?), some 7's, an original elan S2, few exiges and elises. I saw a white elan as i passed by after lunch, looking spiffing from the road, anybody here's?

I love my car, yay! All it needs is brakes...
