Winery/Lunch Run from Santana Row -- May 12

Postby JLSELAN » Mon 02.04.2007, 21:47

So, I'm back from a busy month of travel in March, and I'm willing to set up this event if there is interest.
We gather at the weekly Santana Row (San Jose) informal car show on Saturday, May 12 and leave for a run in the East Bay around 10-10:30 AM. After re-gathering at the historic Elliston Winery in Sunol (with some time to sample their fine wines) we'll proceed to a no-host lunch at the Piatti restaurant in Danville. The Piatti restaurant is about 1/4 mile from I-680 at the Sycamore Valley Rd. exit. I expect lunch will wrap up around 2 PM.
Let me know if this looks like a "go", and I'll open it up to other locals on the various Lotus forums. I'll need a head count for the lunch reservation.
And, yes Doug, Noble rides will be a possibiltiy :-D.

Cheers, Joel

Would love to have gone but won't be back until the 27th. My wine tasting skill swould have made up for my relatively weak driving skills. May is open for me if you have so much fun on this trip you need to do it again.

Cheers,
Jim

Bump.
Kind of a disappointing response so far :(.
If I don't have a few confirmed sign-ups by this weekend (tax day!), I think I'll skip it.
OTOH, if there is more interest for a date in May, that would be OK with me, too--Saturday the 12th looks good right now.

Let me know.

Joel,
I'd love to attend - it's just a bit too far. Sounds like an idyllic event, though.

I hope you go ahead.

I'll be there as long as I can get out of work at a decent hour... Like 4AM and catch a few hours sleep beforehand.

NEW DATE -- Saturday, May 12 -- SAME EVENT

Postby JLSELAN » Sat 14.04.2007, 18:52

Thanks for the replies.
It looks like May 12 will be a better bet for potential participation. Also, it turns out that the Golden Gate Lotus Club is putting on a run April 28th from Santana Row to a BBQ in Livermore, so this move will mean our run will be less of a conflict with that one. A time slip will also give me a chance to list it on the GGLC calendar for others who want to join us.
I'll be asking for sign-ups again soon, so stay tuned!

so I understand that we will cancel the initial date and then plan now for May 12th, right. I'll check my schedule . . .

Yes, that is the plan, Doug.
The run/lunch will also be posted in next month's Golden Gate Lotus Club newsletter, so I think there will be a reasonable turn-out (10-15 cars).
I hope you can make it.

May 12th Run

Postby jabrown39 » Thu 26.04.2007, 23:25

Hey all. I'm back from rainy New Zealand and very happy to see that you postponed the run just for me. I've got to get the car clean and ready to go. Are we planning to do the same run from Santana Row to Livermore?

Cheers,
Jim

PS. Marie needs to start banking some sleep now so whe can go with us during non-vampire hours.

Welcome back to Spring :-D!
And it's good that the revised date of the run will work for you--and others, too, I hope.
The run ends up in Danville for lunch (restaurant is very close to I-680 at the Sycamore Valley Rd. exit), after an itermediate stop at a winery in Sunol.
An announcement will appear in the next GGLC newsletter and will also be posted to the website and the Elisetalk forum, so I expect there will be a reasonable turn-out.
I'll be making lunch reservations, so everyone please let me know if you'll be joining us for lunch.

OI My fellow Lotus friends...

It's been a long time since I've been on this board. Working in Asia is killing me and I miss my Elan badly. There is a chance I'll have to attend a wedding in May. If I do go, then I'm there for sure! Doug, you sold your Garage Queen Biatch??? Man.... Miss you all and wish the best for everyone. Rock on! :smt066

Happy May Day! And thanks for the replies. We have to work on that commitment issue, Doug .
BTW, the official GGLC calendar posting for the run is on this page:

Joel,

Do you want everyone to confirm by phone call or would a reply here suffice?

Looking forward to seeing everyone. Any word on Mark, Kjeld or Jamie? We need to build up the M100 numbers to Elise sizes.

Hope Stripey makes a showing too!! She's looking hot these days! Also I still have some of her parts in a few bags for Ekapol . . .

Replies on the forum will be OK. But the phone will work, too (leave a msg).

Here's what I have so far, I think:

Marie
Doug
Jim
Ekapol
Mel (2)
Dave
Justin
Joel

Keep 'em coming :D

Cheers, Joel

Doug,

You can play with my Elan if you want... I'm never there in the States now... A friend of mine is messing with it and he just told me he juiced out another 30 bhp out of the little white car... :smt066
