Plural of Loti? aka Where's the press release Pinky?

Postby Rambo » Thu 20.09.2018, 17:46

There was an interesting Lotus press release regarding the plural of Lotus. It is in fact Lotus and not Lotuses or that awful term Loti. !!

I think it was on one of the Hethel topics but I can't find it so I suspect one of our moderators has deleted it :? Scott got the plural correct but I can't find his or my reply either

Can you post the press release here again please Geoff as there was also some interesting info on the +2 and why it was so called. Also info. on engines

Looks like a mod deleted it. Never mind… it's still on Imgur:

I'll take the blame for removing it.... I was trying to keep the Hethel threads appropriate by deleting everything unrelated to the point of the topic so as to make it simple to keep on top of.

I accept that it was an interesting document - but deleted it anyway :?

(but it is nice to have it back again in a more appropriate place).

Thanks Geoff. I thought I had imagined it, what with my goldfish brain ;-)

It's a pity Lotus didn't get their punctuation correct in that first sentence though. No commas. Or should that be comma's ? :?

Both images blatantly pinched from our good friends (including Phlyp[NotFWD]Side) at Lotus Talk.

Right then, since this appears to be the complaints department I need to address a major flaw with my recently purchased Elan.

Bought it sight unseen though I had seen a few of them over the years...

Nothing wrong with the actual car, runs very well, much better than I thought it would - everything works extremely well including that nice chip upgrade that I had no idea was in the car, brakes are as mentioned, a bit dead on 'feel' but still function well enough, AC is great etc etc

My concern is the look - from the front - perfect, from the rear, acceptable but from the side, not so much - I need a Plus 2 version just to get the proportions right (to me eyes at least).

So, my winter will be consumed with musing and doodling and sketching and working out how many sawzall blades I will need to cut the car in half, just behind the seats seems about right.

Once that is done, just plop in some fiberglass, probably somewhere between 12"-18" should do the trick to get the length just right and a couple of metally bits to keep everything together.

Photos when done, promise.

Hi grammar police here.

If you mean a comma after "understanding" you're right.

If you mean an apostrophe (') as opposed to a comma (,) after Lotus, then there are 2 possibilities:

1) literature of Lotus: Lotus' literature.
2) if using Lotus as an adjectival noun: Lotus literature.

Both are grammatically correct.

End of smart arse post. :D :D

A press release from a pen pusher in PR
Or

I'm guilty for taking a Hethel thread off topic, just thought seeing as we were going home to mother, should clear up some grammar.

Anyway, good to have a thread for posterity, just in case anyone thought they were a TOSSER

ps; Rambo, had a verbal about this recently when A Laing smacked someone down for saying Lotii :-D
