Hi Rambo, i`m here, just thought i`d take a back seat for a little while as i`m fed up with my underachieving superhero, Fernando. He drives like a lion, when Renault give him a car equal to hit talents (which they will), watch him go. He is the most gifted, aggresive current F1 driver by a long way. I have to say, well done Kubica, and although i hate their road cars,(apart from the M5), BMW. When was the last time the German national anthem played for the winning constructor ? 1955 ?

I told you so : Hamilton is a prat. I`m glad to hear he`s got a 10 place penalty for Magny Cours. It will be great to see him try to fight through the field, something he`s rubbish at. Just remember, when he hits Fernando up the arse next time, it`s not Fernando`s fault.

It seems that Hamilton sponsors a lot of corporate things at the moment. Lucky SpecSavers isn`t one of them. This was much better than the terrible Monaco GP, where the Swiss sensation got (very) lucky. Now he`s third in the championship !!!!!

Oliver

P.S. It was great to see Coulthard on the podium. (At least one Renault engine got there)

I don`t bother posting much here now as i`m completely outnumbered by Hamilton fans, here and in Britain, but i won`t be persecuted for being a Renault and Alonso fan. I`ve already got my spanish flag (with bull), for Spa. We`ll win again, just remember.

Alonso had a top car last year, was out-driven in it & did his best to get his team a massive fine. Not what I call gifted & aggressive.

As for yesterday's pit-lane incident: I missed the race so have only just seen it.
Interesting that Nico Rosberg failed to stop as well.
It is unfortunate that an alternative to a safety car cannot be found. They completely ruin races.
If it was not for the fact the technology was cutting-edge, F1 would be the least interesting of all motor sports.

Oliver wrote:I told you so : Hamilton is a prat.

I think he proved otherwise last season in a big way.

All sportsmen do silly things when adrenalin is flowing - no exceptions. Players in 'continuous' sports where you have to think fast (eg, motor racing, football) are worst affected, but even snooker players are guillty of it and they can think in their own time, often getting to spend several minutes in their chair chilling out while their opponent is at the table.

Hi rip,

Yes, Lewis pushed Fernando very hard last year, but apart from his experience and skill, Fernando was at at significant disadvantage to Lewis for a number of reasons.

Hamilton is a McLaren and Ron Dennis `protege` and was an integral part of the team, for many years.

He was familiar and comfortable with the MP4-22, and more importantly, the Bridgestone tyres.

Alonso had no Bridgestone experience, being a `Michelin man`, and was now driving a car which was very different to the R25 and R26 championship winning Renaults.

So in 2007 both Mclaren drivers finished equal on points.

I bet if Hamilton had driven the other Renault R26 in 2006 Alonso would have beaten him by a huge margin.

Likewise, had Bridgestone withdrawn instead of Michelin, Renault would be on their way to a fourth consecutive constructors title this year. Note that Renault won the last V10 championship, and the first V8, their dominance was only neutered by being forced to use Bridgestone tyres, and the loss of the mass damper, which other teams used, but not with the same effect, hence the whingeing opposition insisting it be banned (remember Colin Chapman).

F1 is crushingly dull without a tyre war and ridiculous little 2.4 `sealed` V8`s. To watch them GP2 cars are now much more exciting than current F1 cars with their stupid aero bits, peaky, gutless engines and daft paddle shifts. Bring back turbos, 3.5ltr atmospherics, real gearboxes, 2mtr car track, and drivers who smoke. Next, they will introduce councelling sessions for drivers who have been called `stupid` by a competitor.

I must be getting old. Bring back 1986.

FIA still as they said at the end of last year"scrutinising mclarens every move"
as shown by the 2x fia slap on wrist's given over the race weekend...
good on jarno though ... well drivern
as for the JB journeyman... i bet he wishes he took that williams drive instead of giving them 15 million !
he complains of people crashing into the back of him...
well if he drops down the grid any further it will be immposible for that to happen!

not looking especialy good for the brit pack for silverstone.

button at the back
hamilton in a strop
coulthard somewhere around the middle of those two.

and as for me ... quick nick is getting his rs kicked by the flying nose.

Yep a boring race

and what the hell is wrong with Hammy and Mclaren, it was quite obvious they gain an advatage by cutting the chicane and should of let Vettel back through.

I`ve just found out that i`m going to the British Grand Prix, camping at the golf course next door !! It`s a 40th birthday surprise, and i`m chuffed. The only problem is the 89,998 Hamilton fans there may not like my Alonso regalia, so i don`t know if i`ll get out alive. Is anyone else going / taking their Elan ?

Regards

Oliver

P.S. Coulthard will hopefully make a superb BBC F1 commentator.

Oliver, can I suggest that you return to this topic ASAP after the event and edit your post to remove your number?
Or better still, do it now and PM it to anyone who you plan on meeting up with.
Can't be too careful.
Striking fear into the hearts of duplicate posts everywhere...! :P

Not in the short term; he's staying on with Red Bull as an advisor.

Toyota have confirmed Trulli and Glock for next year...

I wonder if DC made his own decision or not ?

I heard that today but find it hard to visualise. Having seen how enormous Silverstone is & how packed out it gets on GP day, I just cannot imagine that lot squeezing into Donington Park. The access roads are nowhere near as good as Silverstone's A43, which I believe was built with the F1 GP very much in mind.

Bernie complains that Silverstone is vastly inferior to a lot of other GP circuits but to upgrade Donington to beyond that will cost a fortune.

:agree:

ACBC should have taken the job years ago when it was offered to him....but he did the honourable thing as he was running/owner of a team at the time.....
mind you so was the poisoned dwarf....

Its all a case of scaring the encumbent.

Either Silverstone do what they want or Donny is willing to pay the price. Either way its all good for us as long as the British GP continues.

Edit: Note I'm drunk but you get the idea
