I had a letter through from Cancer Research UK earlier in the week about the LEC whip-round we started a year ago when Dico's wife was having treatment for cancer - you contributed a total of £1397 plus whatever gift aid that JustGiving can screw out of the taxman. Well done to all who contributed.

Is it just me ...

On television news this week, from Northumbria, that Acting Assistant Deputy Chief Constable with the comedy haircut who looks a bit like Hugh Grant’s sister in Notting Hill referred to all those highly trained armed police involved with the manhunt as “her” officers ... several times.

What’s all that about? Out of the 1000’s of “her” officers will there be even one who thinks of themselves as working for her ... as opposed to being in the Police Force.

One of my guys came in to work late today... I ask why...

"Well I got up on time, and was in the bathroom brushing my teeth, but the electric one broke so I had to use a manual toothbrush..."

"rrr-right.... but why are you 45 minutes late?"

"Well, while brushing my teeth, the Missus asked me a question, so I turned my head to show her that I could not talk... at this point I had my thumb under the handle of the brush for upward pressure 'cause I was brushing the upper back row of teeth.

Anyway, while turning my head and furiously brushing back and forth, the tooth brush flicked out of my mouth and I stabbed myself in the eye...

...it wasn't so much the stabbing that did for me but all that toothpaste stung like a bitch... It was fully an hour before I could see again..."
