As you can see, i`m expecting Renault to get back to the front. Fernando was throwing his R28 about way beyond its limits. It was great to watch although as a Renault fan not to be winning is really painful. But, if you look back you see that they eventually win, in the end. Fernando will be champ 2009. He is a fantastic racer and far superior to that McLaren bloke. Put Hamilton in a Toro Rosso and see how `good` he really is. He`s a McLaren `product`, with a decade of team knowledge, and although i accept he`s good, he is no Senna, or Alonso for that matter.

My agenda for improving F1.

1) Forget energy recovery systems. F1 is a hedonistic, capitalist sport. The green lie should not extend here.

2) Get Michelin back. As well as putting Renault back to the front, a tyre war is great for spectators.

3) Get the engines back to 3 Litre V10`s (Renault`s invention). I watched the Belgian GP from a grandstand at Eau Rouge and them 2.4 v8`s are pathetic. No one lifted at all. (Also, notice how Hamilton dosen`t go so well on `real` circuits) I`m at the bus stop chicane this year.

4) Get rid of ITV. Their coverage is pathetic, with irrelevent celebrity interviews, brain dead competitions and the worst offence, adverts. I`m off to buy a satellite so i can watch it on RTL.

5) A 19k rpm limit is pathetic. Let the teams develop their engines, rather than freeze them. Or at least, allow turbos again (another Renault innovation)

Regards, a frustrated fan.

i agree he drove the socks off the car,

as for him being champ this year ... i doubt it...

lewis is no alonso.. that's a good thing. ( not that i am on the lewis bandwagon) i hope its nick this year!

tyres yes please and manual gearboxes .

RTL has adverts usually at the same time as itv unfortunatly.
if you get the live timing from the above link it makes the adverts bearable..

Hi Clemo,

I forgot RTL have adverts. I must be thinking of EuroSport some years ago when they had F1 with the BBC. At least listening in German is better than listening to James Allen ?

Hold on - Alonso and Hamilton were in the same car last year and who came out on top? For me Alonso showed how good a racer he was in America

Maybe we should put them both in a Toro Rosso

And no, I'm not a 'Lewis' fan - yet. He has a lot to prove and may live to regret missing out last year. He also needs to get rid of that smug grin he is prone to showing

Alonso started his F1 career with Minardi, Hamilton is a McLaren `product`. Put them both in a Red Bull ,Honda or Toyota and i guarantee Alonso would beat him consistently. Lewis is just living on uncle Ron`s yacht. He`s obviously very lucky, but not good enough to be anything other than a one team wonder.

Oliver I don't agree with your comments.

I was about to suggest that you probably worked for Renault as you seem so biased. Then I noticed your tag line...

Hamilton pulled off some moves last year, the likes of which have not been seen in F1 for many years. His pass Montreal when he had to lock his brakes to get fairly underneath Raikonnen (I think)
He also passed Alonso on his debut. Groomed with a team or not, that ain't half bad.

& the last passing move as bold as his Canada lock-up....Mansell, when he swooped around Senna on a 180 bend somewhere.

I see also that Australia have ruled out a night race. If Bernie does pull the plug because he wants it to be in Europe's daytime would be sad. Maybe it should no longer be a World championship, but a European one.

Please forgive me if i appear to have been ranting guys, i get a bit carried away when it comes to F1. I don`t really know why, when you think about it it`s a pretty useless sport, i don`t understand where my passion comes from, i think i`m just on a mission to keep some balance. According to the tabloid press / man in the street, F1 didn`t exist before 2007 / Lewis. This touches a nerve with me. Just watch Raikkonen go this weekend! Ferrari won`t get humiliated again.

Regards and apologies,

Oh, i hope so :!:

And i think Alonso's behavior last year was appalling.

I will be interested to see how Ross Brawn helps Honda along. Honda always produced fine engines so I expect that, given time, they can produce a front-running car too.

Oliver

You don't have to apologise for a mild rant on a subject about which you feel passionately.
We can all don the blinkers and leap up on the soap box from time to time, and eh... you might even be right!

Personally, I hope you're not but...

Thanks Sy,

Being a cancer, i`m laid back to the point of being horizontal, until it comes to F1. I don`t know why it makes me so passionate. My final comment!: I hope Renault can give Alonso a car capable of winning. He is so aggressive, and he never gives up. Few people liked Ayrton Senna, Alonso is similar, an F1 driver of the old school, not a PR robot, but a real character. And they both proved themselves in crap cars, not just step in at the top.

For me Alonso's 'aggression', if that is the word, was misdirected and led to his downfall at McLaren.
Me thinks Senna would have had Hamilton in the gravel  a few times last year rather than finish behind him!
Not that I'm suggesting that should be the way of a World class sportsman  but is it any worse than  throwing your toys out?

Alonso nearly put Hamilton into the wall on lap one of last year`s Belgian GP. I was watching from a grandstand at Eau Rouge. After that, Hamilton seemed a bit pensive. Then again, Spa is a real race track, not one of these daft modern giant kart tracks with 200m of run off.
