Yea, i wonder ?, you ain't telling me he didn't know either before, during or after the race, after all, the decision would of probably been made before the race ?, either way, just surprised Alonso didn't bring it to FIA's attention, like he stabbed McLaren in the back :!:

I`m not after putting Alonso down, it`s possible he never new about it at the time, but just wonder was he told afterwards :? as thats bringing the sport in to disrepute. So just wonder will he be investigated

Anyways it`s not good for the sport, it`s a shame really as the last race was great

It don't need us to pull it down Monty, doing a good enough job on its own !, but Alonso has gotta of known, if not before or during, certainly after !

After the way we have heard Alonso argues with his team over the radio "Back off Fernando, or your engine will blow" - "No I must keep pushing", I think he must have known in advance because he pitted ununsually early. SUrely he would have stayed out otherwise?

Renault let off with a "suspended ban". Flavio banned for life

Strange how Alonso was driving for the teams involved in the biggest scandals (ever?) and gets of scott free both times...

How the f ing hell can McLaren be fined £70million for nicking a few secrets & yet Renault get away with a suspended ban ?, its a miracle that F1 has any credibility left at all :?

:agree:
The action has been slowly moving off-track for several years. They may as well make it a time trial. Hey wait...that would be the same as qualifying then!

theelanman wrote:I prefer watching f2, f3 and moto gp these days.....

I definitely find Moto GP more exciting...the action happens on the track!

As for the Renault punishment, well that sucks. So what if Flav did orchestrate events? He was a part of the Renault team, period.

RD left McLaren after the data pilfering issue & they still got slapped with an enormous fine & I have read several comments stating that Renault's cheating was much more serious.
The extra points gained would have earned them a serious amount of money yet they don't even get a fine.

As for Eddie Irvine's comments, I actually agree with him. Most sports are similar: if you can get away with something, then try it on. Footballers dive to win free kicks & there are similar examples in almost every sport.

What sort of message does this suspended sentence send out? "If you want to gain a few points, arrange a crash...We don't mind you doing it once but don't mkae a habit of it".

I kept my mouth shut through the Mclaren saga as I was never convinced they were 100% guilty and I did not like one of their drivers.

All I am going to say who was at Mclaren when they got accused of cheating and who was at Renault when they were accused of cheating.

I might not have the evidence but I know where I am pointing the finger. As far as I am concerned there is one cheating ??????? ???? in F1

So Piquet Jr crashes his car on purpose, and because he admits it he gets off with no penalty?

Team orders - "Crash or lose your job". What choice did he have?

You report it, simple as. Nothing in life should change your morals.
Pique should of also got punishment as if he kept his drive he would never of come forward, says alot for sportsman of today. Hence why i can`t stand footballers. You can never ever condone this type of action and thats why Irvine is also a complete :censored:
I would Imagine Pique will struggle to get a drive in any motorsport, his Dad must be so proud

Renault got of extremely lightly and should of been banned from all motorsport, that would be the ultimate warning to other teams across the sport.

Couldn't agree more.

Here's another thought: why didn't the FIA strip Alonso of that win. He only won because of his team's cheating. He'd have been nowhere otherwise.

Since the FIA haven't acted, why hasn't Alonso handed back the trophy of his own volition?

Nico Rosberg was second in that race, though who knows who would have won if Piquet hadn't trashed his car (and the race) at turn 17.

Renault's sponsor, ING, were going to pull out at the end of this season anyway, so it's not quite the loss to Renault that it might have seemed to be.

I really hope that Alonso and Renault leave Singapore empty handed this year. Even that is more than they deserve, in my opinion.

Hi Paul, I'm here!

Sorry for the long absence, been a bit ill.

I am going to have my work cut out to defend my favourite team, i admit.

I feel really sorry for Pat Symonds, he was a great strategist and all round good bloke.

I also liked Flavio, and think a lifetime ban is ridiculous.

Calculating risk is part of all motor sport, and although i do agree in principle what Flavio, Pat & Nelsinho did
was wrong, you must admit it was a very clever, audacious piece of quick thinking, if somewhat too clever.

Williams will have a Renault engine next year, remember a moderately successful team called Rothmans Williams Renault, all you Renault detractors?

Renault will win again, unlike some other 'manufacturer' teams, they are present in F1 not just to add a 'halo' effect, but are
a real racing team, and always will be. They don't bale out when things are not going their way - do not confuse them with the likes of Honda & BMW.

My biggest problem now is which team to support next year, Renault or Lotus ? I am very excited about Lotus' return.
