Ha bloody ha.
Well, I thought the perfect day was going to end in disaster when the pedal lost its connection with the throttle just as we went across a very busy junction in Colorado Springs en route to Pikes Peak. Fortunately, there was room to pull over safely and the cable wasn't snapped but unfortunately it wasn't at the throttle end. Time for the Lotus position (the second time in 4 days) and the dexterity of a 5 year old gynaecologist to try and work out what we were dealing with. After what seemed like an eternity, I managed to get them together (but I'm still not sure how, hence the post for help) and we made it to the rendezvous point with minutes to spare.
Fantastic weather (the locals said it was going to be cold but I was warm enough in a Newcastle top, shorts and beanie hat with the top down), tarmac to the top (unlike the previous two times I've done it) and an Elan (unlike the previous two times I've done it) made it a perfect birthday.
I reiterate my gratitude to Algirdas, Asta and Aras for the loan of their Elan. Another example of some of the wonderful people who make LEC such a special place.
