Wish I could join you, but sadly earning a living is getting in the way. Have a great time, and make sure you use the camera lots. ;)

So wish I could have made this, but I'm working this weekend :-(

On a positive note, it's my cars (I.B.3) 25th birthday this weekend :-)

Good luck Trevor with your trip to the Netherlands this weekend and the weather dries up and you both have a good time, drive safe and hope to meet up with you in the spring.

Thanks Alan, it is something different and will be a good examination for 'Merlot'. Extra coat of wax put on to keep her protected, she's not used
to that sort of drive but I'm confident that she'll be up to it. Van der Kooi Sportscars have very kindly invited me to use their facilities on arrival
to ensure that 'Merlot' is presentable for Saturday's show. We are up early Friday morning to catch Eurotunnel, hopefully weather will not spoil
the experience. I will take lots of photos and see if I can put something together when we get back.

Friday's drive started early at 6 o'clock. Those of you may remember that Friday was not a very pleasant day
on the weather front, in fact is was pouring with rain when I reversed 'Merlot' out of the garage.

Image

It was a relatively short drive to the Eurotunnel and once on the train we were squeezed behind a Porche Boxter.

Image

TomTom set we were ready for our 200 mile drive to Houten near Utrecht. The rain and wind was relentless
and the traffic, I've not seen so many lorries, it was horrendous :!: After one stop and 3 1/2 hours later we
arrived at our Hotel. What was very pleasing about the journey - NO LEAKS  Yep no soggy knees, Lyn
was extremely pleased.

Image

After settling in we then took a drive over to Van der Kooi Sportscars where waiting for us was Henri, ready and
waiting to help give 'Merlot' a well deserved wash. We had a good chat and Henri showed me around the showroom.
This included a Lotus Formula 1 car and a mixture of new and old.

Image

Back to the Hotel and a lovely dinner and couple of glasses of wine to wake up next morning to a lovely sunny day
and the view from 12th floor bedroom window.

Image

The short drive over to the showroom and parked up with HJ2 behind me.

Image

Inside the workshop was featured the M200 Elan concept car and alongside it the very first M100 sold in Holland
and still owned by the original buyer. I will leave you to make your own opinions on the M200. It is a one off.

We had a good day and were looked after very well by Henry and HJ2 plus the Lotus Club of Holland. There were
probably a total six M100's turned up from Holland and Belgium. I met up with Leon de Wit who is a member of
the LEC but not very active.
Unfortunatly we were unable to take up HJ2's offer of driving over to the Delft for a drink but we thanked both
Henk and Henri for their hospitality.
Despite TomTom not working for our drive home today we made it safe and once again 'Merlot' was a pleasure to
drive even when we were stuck in a build of traffic due to an accident on the E40 motorway. Watching the temperature
gauge rise and fall when the fan cut in was very satisfying. Even when we reached 100mph to try and catch up time to
meet our train time she seemed to relish the opportunity. Well done 'Merlot'. There were a lot of compliments which
were much appreciated so I do hope that we were good ambassadors for LEC.

Hi Trevor,

It was great that you were at the LCH-Winterfair in Holland with your wife. How was your trip alongside the river and seeing the villages Wijk bij Duurstede and Amerongen? Surprisingly another Englishman showed up who also visit the Lotus festival at Brands Hatch and the 25th anniversary of the Elan M100. The photos I made of the Dutch Winterfair are showed at www.lotusclubhollnad.nl soon as well to videos of the event itself and the M100 workshop, though in Dutch of course but you will be lead by the images itself. The reaction on the Winterfair are positive and unassumingly some 200 visitors showed up. Mike Kimberley was not yet able to make the trip to Holland but he wanted so badly to be part of the event so he felt very much sorry for staying home. I will visit him beginning 2015 as soon as the weather is no longer freezing. I sent you the photos and video via Dropbox later. Thanks for being part of the Winterfair and say hello to Lynn.

With kind Regards,

Henri
