I've never seen a car that front plates look good on. Fortunately, I've also never lived in a state where I had to have them. I don't think they serve much purpose on the front either.

We have mobile camera cars and forward facing speed cameras here in the UK and numberplate recognition in Police cars. They'd have our 'nads' if we removed them....

Yeah, I know. I just meant that traditionally, it's the one on the back that is of use. The cop is usually behind, in pursuit. Witnesses are usually behind, watching a crook drive away, etc. I know in Europe and the UK, there are a lot of speed cameras that are located downstream of the sensor that catches you, and they take the picture of the front, getting both the plate, and the driver's face. Over here, most state's police play more fair.

Has anyone else in the USA noticed that in the last couple of months cops are following right behind your Lotus? I had one pull me over in a small county in south Georgia while I was traveling in the SLOW lane, out of three lanes. He said I was going over the speed limit, and I pointed out to him that I wasn't passing anyone; but that dozens of cars had passed me in just the last couple of minutes. I got no ticket, but it is clear to me that local governments are trying to make up for their budget shortfall by writing tickets to whomever it looks like can afford them. I think a lot of cops also have a psychological imperative against flashy, expensive, fast-looking sports cars. I have NEVER felt it like I have in the past few months though.

If it doesn't exist, create it. (God did)
Ignore what I say. (good advice)
