2010 marque car will be the VW
http://www.euroautofestival.com/

"For the 15th anniversary of EURO, we are excited to honor Volkswagen as the featured marque. Once again, a record number of cars is anticipated. Last year, with inclement weather, we still managed to display 496 car!"

It looks like we will be driving home from LOG putting in a couple of days at work then heading down to Spartanburg, South Carolina. The registration includes information on all the driving events that will be held. It is a very good way to try out a BMW at speed or just get some cheap high performance driving in with someone else's car.

Beautiful weather. I was a bit disappointed in the Lotus turnout. There was one each: 7s4, M100, Esprit, Elise & Evora.

I did see a Mangusta, something I hadn't seen for over 30 years. There was a big turnout of VWs, the featured marque, with some stunning older cars. I skipped the Porsche and BMW areas. There were a lot of those.

The driving events were fun although I keep confirming my dislike for computer controlled cars. The electronics seem to take the smoothness and fun out of high performance driving. My favorite events were lapping in an M5 followed by a very open autocross in a 3 series. The tighter the course became the less fun it was. BMWs seem to be tuned more for higher speeds.

I convinced myself that off-roading is not for me. The X5 is not my kind of car. I'll stick to real roads not goat tracks.

Next year's event conflicts with the Las Vegas LOG so once again I will miss this event.

I finally did a full walk around the car and checked the lights... I had to replace one headlight (rock) and one backup bulb. Not bad maintenance needs given the 3,000 miles we put on the car over last month or so.
