This event is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Elan. We will use it to complete our goal of driving our Elan (M100) through the 48 contiguous states. Florida is the only one that we have not visited with our Elan. So this October we will have completed our goal. I am very much looking forward to taking a few laps around the Sebring circuit. So much has been said and written about it being featureless (especially at night) and rough. I want to experience it myself.

This should be a good event. According to one of the organizers I spoke with there will be:
- auto-x
- judged concourse
- people's choice car show
- track event at Sebring
- lunch time drive around at Sebring
- "Lotus" spelled out with cars such as was done at the first LOG
- formal dinner

Hopefully some of the other typical LOG events are also on the agenda. The arts & crafts show is one of my favorites as are the technical sessions and the presence of Lotus themed special guests and speakers. I also enjoyed the carting outing that was part of LOG 31 although my slowness of hand, lack of talent (as show by Steve M. being 2 seconds a run faster in the auto-x while driving my car shows) and heavier than most lead to a lackluster performance.

I further hope we have a good turnout of M100's at this event. There were too few at LOG 31.

I just realized that the LOG hotel (Hilton Orlando, 6001 Destination Parkway, Orlando, Florida 32819) http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/florid ... index.html rates 4.5 stars on tripadvisor.com, is only 1.5 miles from Sea World and has a UPS Store on site. More reason to arrive early and buy stuff. The wife will be happy. There are lots of pools. I'll have to bring a bathing suite so I can scare the other tourist.

Two Bond (007) cars will be there along with Emma Peals Avengers Elan.

I'm disappointed in the lack of enthusiasm being shown for LOG this year. We are almost packed up. Hope to see some of the folks from this forum in Florida next weekend.

I think most of them are in CO and CA so that's quite a haul down to Orlando. I'm lucky if I get 60 minutes to do a pleasure drive these days :bonk:

I know the West Coast and Colorado have a large population, but there are a LOT up and down the Eastern Coast. I hear of more every week as people finally find LEC. They don't bother to register in the registry, but I am suprised that there seems to be 4 or 5 in a 30 mile radius of me and I have never seen or met anyone else with one. I have 2 including apaint ready disassembled NMY and a serious basket case from Steve M. I would love to have anyone visit my shop. It isn't prim and proper and I have other projects going on, but all of the parts are here and anyone can compare their bits to two low milage examples. PLUS, I get to see one assembled again. I forget what that looks like.

If you ever get near here, you are always welcome. I am less than 15 mile from the airport.

Perhaps the ounce of Cannabis sativa you may now legally posses will make the journey less fatiguing!

I saw reported that all cases of less than an ounce are now in abeyance in Colorado & Washington state. Wait a few months. After prohibition was repealed alcohol-related cases were all pardoned. As most people from the 1930s are now dead this is largely forgotten.

FACTs:
During prohibition you could be sentenced to one year in jail for buying a single bottle of alcohol.
In 1968 when the "war on drugs" started 34% of all inmates were violent offenders.
Today only 9% of all inmates are violent offenders.
Today 80% of all inmates are doing time for drug offenses down to just two grams.
Almost three million people are incarcerated in the United States. That is the highest both in percentage and raw-number of all 194 countries on the planet! Land of the free? Really?
Strive for perfection in everything. (given time)
Take the best that exists & make it better. (given inclination)
If it doesn't exist, create it. (God did)
Ignore what I say. (good advice)

The "drug war" is insane. I know plenty of people who were against 64 (the pot legalization bill) and not a single one had ever tried it. Not one. Anyone who's ever, even once at a party in college, tried it, thinks it's no big deal and should be legal.

If libertarianism would (could?) include my bleeding-heart liberal desire to help those in need, I'd vote libertarian. But, that party has no morals - it's all or nothing. No government intervention in anything except keeping other people off my grass. (not a punny callback to the previous paragraph..) But I think gov't should help it's citizens in need. Otherwise, innocent children suffer. No way around that.

My copy of reMarque, the Lotus Ltd magazine, arrived today with coverage of LOG 32 in Orlando Florida. Even with the limited attendance of M100's (I'm guilty in this regard haven taken our Seven. In my defense the M100 wasn't 100% operational at the time.) there are some good pictures of our cars including the centerfold.
