There is a participant list on the official site- up to about 50 already.
A good mix of cars with about 12 Elans last year. We are going again, it's a great event :D
Hope to see you there and meet HJ2 this time.

What would be the chances of Dirk allowing us to park all the Elans together this year? I know it gets a bit hectic on arrival but it would make for some great photos.

There's quite a lot on YouTube to give you a flavour of the day. Some good footage of Ypres and the rest stops.
I seem to remember going rather a lot faster than the recordings appear!

Where does everyone normally stay and for how long, price's etc ?
I was thinking getting the early ferry over, do "the day" and maybe stop for a few days and look at some war stuff 8)
or as I'd say to my good lady "go for a nice drive and see where it takes us" :P

Chris

Intend to come to the H&C on Wednesday so I will give you all the info there.

Steve A Fredjohn we booked a hotel for the night before and spent the afternoon and evening looking around Ypres and attending the Last Post at the Menin Gate at 8 pm-very humbling and moving. Cars start gathering in the square from 8am for registration and a bit of a chat then off at 10am. There are 3 stops for coffee, lunch and afternoon beer and then the presentation dinner in the evening. Although we had booked the dinner we gave it a miss and ate in Ypres with some SELOC people we had met during the day. The Brits tend to gather together so don't be put off going on your own but you really need a navigator! Ness was a bit apprehensive but soon picked it up.
It's a great event, enough cars and driving to be interesting and also history and sightseeing to appeal to wives/girlfriends

Thanks Dave. I was thinking of taking Wed ferry midday-ish finding a hotel for Wed night, doing the event another night then coming home Friday. DFDS Dover seems the cheapest.

I did a club lotus Belgium trip to Bruges a few yrs ago in my old S4. Very good do and very moving when we visited the nearby peace tower: now a memorial museum. About 6 to 7 Brit cars, we all knew each other and had great time.

Unfortunately I have just split with my navigator and partner long story, but am used to navigating alone, usually with cryptic French instructions!

Will probably book shortly but can you recommend a hotel in Ypres? Reasonable price of course!

Fredjohn

Probably the Novotel for a good value hotel. We stayed in the Albion last year, perfectly adequate but SWMBO liked the look of the Arianne so we've gone for that this time. :asleep:
I was more concerned about secure parking than anything else but to be honest the town seems very civilised (no yobs) so that's not so much of problem.

Dave

Many thanks for this. The Novotel was actually more than the Ariane, so I've booked the Ariane for Wed and Thurs nights. The Albion was fully booked anyway, maybe that's why the change???

A few  and :gathering: on Wed then :D

Look forward to seeing you there, if not earlier at Donington, although I see you are not on the list.

John
