It looks and sounds as though it was a good weekend all round even if there were trials and tribulations for a few. As far as I can tell all arrived home after the weekend safe and sound and I'm just a little bit sad that I wasn't able to be there. Despite concerns at the numbers who might attend and the change of location from the familiar and well practised Donington it seems from here that it all went off well in the end. So my appreciation to all who put the effort in to go and take part and make it such a success. I hope there's a parts sale later in the year or I'll feel doubly cheated if I don't get my Lotus event fix.

It was a good weekend Nige (not that I was there on Sunday.
I had my reservations...new location & all that, but the main attraction is seeing many of my Elan friends & plenty were there. Especially good to meet Karen & Andy.
The marquee was a nice touch too. Nobody seemed to be sure who arranged it though. Was that you?

Wow! Really sorry to hear that. She never let me down in all the time I owned her. I used to have a spare set of all the aircon bits, but I sold them to some-one on here. Can't remember who.

Still I guess it can be disconnected to get you back on the road?

The new owner of the bits is me - but the one on my car is leaking quite badly so I was going to swap it in and get mine reconditioned. If you get stuck let me know. As a short term fix you could just remove the pump and use a standard belt but you'd have to manage without aircon - in the UK that's probably not a problem though

For several weeks now someone up there has been drip-feeding smelly brown stuff onto the big fan and its been hitting me regularly so I was not in the least bit surprised that I had a breakdown this weekend!

I've been trying to sort the problem today, so far I've got a new drive belt (for A/C and steering pump) £15 local factor - and have proved that the compressor main shaft/rotor is seized but that the pulley still spins freely within the electro clutch - ie normal operating condition with A/C switched off. Therefore tomorrow all being well I shall get the new belt on and run without operating A/C.
Reading the manual on A/C repairs I think that I shall have to find some expertise to carry out the replacement. I guess that it will need a new 'green' refrigerant etc
Can anyone recommend a suitable experienced garage in North West of England or in Central Scotland?

Or you could just leave it as is and save about a grand, but have no air con (like most other Elans)

Or better still, don't just leave it, but strip all the bits and pieces out, thus lightening the car and making it faster!

had an enjoyable day at the show(despite the problems),and it`s great to be able to meet other lec members,looking forward to the next one.(will that be castlecombe ? ).

Anj and I couldn't stay for long on Saturday (we went to view another Elan, which went tech on the test drive - fortunately not when I was driving it)
but we greatly enjoyed the drive down, the curry on Friday night, the Saturday morning convoy, the show and the company. Many thanks to everyone from LEC who was involved in the organisation.
