Malvern Lotus Parts Fair Cancelled

Postby chris.t » Mon 20.09.2010, 13:33

Just received this.

Dear member,

It is with great regret that I must inform you that we¹ve been forced to cancel the Club Lotus Parts Fair at Malvern on October 9th.

We¹ve not taken this decision lightly but feel we cannot run the event following a very poor response from the expected stand holders. To date we have only 10 autojumble stands booked and no Lotus traders at all - it would be embarrassing to call that a show.

I¹m very sorry if you were looking forward to coming along but I¹d prefer to take a tough decision now rather than have to explain to you when you arrived why there were so few stands to visit.

This doesn¹t mean there will never be another Parts Fair in the future and we¹ll keep you up to date with our show plans for 2011.

It also doesn¹t mean there¹s nothing happening at Malvern over the weekend of 9/10 October. Andrew Greenwood¹s long established and very big Great Malvern Autojumble will still be running on Saturday 9th together with his Classic Car Show and Autumn Spares day on Sunday 10th. Furthermore we know that at least five of the autojumblers who had booked with us have simply moved into the main autojumble so there will still be a Lotus element there.

If you have already bought advance tickets from us they are still valid for the 9th or you can apply for a full refund.

Best regards,

Alan Morgan

Last year was a shamefully poor event! Good decision.

had a long chat with Alan Morgan today, tale of woe i'm afraid. Fingers crossed for hopefully Donington next year. Contrary to everyone else i quite liked Malvern as a venue.

I'm always eager to hear feedback, good or bad. To whom/what do you apportion the blame for such a 'poor event'?

I'd say the event was a successful one overall, it's a crackin little social event to catch up on.

Friday night was great..(My hotel was pump)
Saturday was good to catch up with everyone, LEC parking marquee was a stroke of genius, I didn't even get a chance to look round, to busy chatting. :D
Sunday, in my opion was the best day, The weather was brillant, the auto jumbles OK and the classic Autoshow that Club Lotus jumped on the back of was cracking.

The worst aspect for me, Malvern has no track and they didn't use Silverstone like the year before. (Even thou that was a one off)

Would I do it again...yep...

Edit:-Oops wrong event..

We all parked inside in the same bulding as the stand.... :D

Memories going, but that was an OK event to.

Friday, good night with beer and food, bumped into Club Lotus organisers, good B+B
Saturday.... stood around and chatted most of the day... spotting a trend here...

Unfortunately it is the stall holders that have influenced the decision not to return to Malvern. They were not happy with the setup and to be fair it did lack the hustle and bussle atmosphere which is Donington.
