It's that time of year again and I'd like to extend an invitation to all our Elan friends to attend the Spring Car Show at IWM Duxford. The popularity of this show has grown year on year and last year we had over forty four cars sign up to attend.

If you can only make a morning or afternoon or even an hour or two Duxford are usually very flexible with entry and exit times unlike many other shows, last year the entry gate was open from 9.30am-2.00pm and you can leave whenever you wish.

A big bonus here is that when you've looked round all the car displays you can then view all the aircraft on show and yes they do have a Concorde as well. Often the workshops are open so you can see restorations in progress. There's a large cafe in the American Air Museum and if you'd like to see things from the air you can book a pleasure fight with Classic Wings on the day. There's usualy a few trade stands selling car valeting products at good prices as well.

The cost is £10 per person (£5 Children under 16) payable on the dedicated entrance gates.

The quicker I get an idea of numbers the better as this will allow me to gain more space, hopefully if we put on a strong show we can keep our current position which will hold at least 50 cars.

Hi All,

Duxford is this Sunday 1st May. The final details are as follows.

Firstly please read and understand the following information from IWM Duxford and remember I've signed these on your behalf:

In particular note the requirement for oil drip trays if your car has the odd leak and is likely to soil the grass.

This year the dedicated entrance gate on the A505 will be open from 9.30am till 2.00pm and the entry cost is £10 per person and £5 for Children under 16. Gate 1 is where you need to enter and this is marked on the attached map below, note this is NOT the general public entrance it's much further down the A505 there will be yellow signage 'Car Clubs' provided along the A505 directing you to Gate 1. We've not been given an indication of where we will park this year, but in previous years it's been pitch number 8 on the map. When you arrive please say you are with the Lotus Forums and the marshals will direct you to the correct area. If you arrive before me please stay with your car just in case we need to move things around and those of you who need to leave early need to make sure you're in the front row. You can leave when ever you want but please watch your speed and take care as there will be crowds everywhere.

Don't forget the entrance Gate is open till 2.00pm, so you can always come in the afternoon if it's raining in the morning or you just can't get out of bed !

It was good to meet friends old & new. I had not been to Duxford for years & was pleasantly surprised at how much it has changed.
