Porrige Pot 1985- wasnt this the last time we saw Stef? She was only a young lady then.....

We were all a lot younger in 1985 (and I was even driving an Elan, although not an M100)

I may yet make it to Stoneleigh on Sunday but I'm out of miles on the S2 until the end of Nov so it'll either be in Norma or the Alfa (more space for bits). If I do I'll try to link up with a convoy if there is anything en-route (A31, M27, M3, A34, M40, and then to Stoneleigh on the smaller roads). If not then see you there if I make it.

Fun & games for me this week. I planned to do lots of work on the Elan.. Refurb front calipers & replace the rears, new pads all round, new gearbox oil, fit Samco hoses.
The last bit caused a problem. I put in some coolant flushing compound this morning before my trip to Colchester. It flushed it all right..now I have a major water leak coming from somewhere around the oil cooler. It drips a bit when I am driving then gushes out when I stop the engine.

If it is not a hose leak, I may have to turn up at Stoneleigh in the Nissan :smt089

RIP,

When my radiator went it too looked like it was from the oil cooler area.

When i got it stripped out it was obvious that it was where the plastic end tank fits onto the aluminium core (seal was buggered) out of normal sight.

I got a second-hand rad from Dave Eds (which he had re-conned for me), so it was just a one off - one on swap over job - minimal time off the road :D

I was lucky enough to get a second-hand bracket thing aswell (from SBK) so that was all cleaned up and painted before the big day - made it a really easy swap!

I know Geoff Davies has found a place near him that will do a re-core for about £100 if yours is saveable.

You may be lucky enough to not need one, but I think that is the best current option (unless you buy a new one outright - £££££££££)

If you want to keep yours on the road, mine held with 'Radweld' for quite a few months.

I still have my old rad and bracket if you wanted to do it the same way i did. I could bring them to Stoneleigh if you want to discuss this option - available either for a 'loan' or a 'sale' (or 'p-ex') to suit your requirements.

I decided to keep the bits in case someone on LEC wanted to do it in the future - and keep the karma in the community.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

The last time I went to Stoneleigh was in a kit car earlier in the year. They laid on special parking for driver/owners - is the same going to happen for the Lotus show? I've not been to one of these before, so is it a question of find your space and get on with it, or is there some kind of pre arranged parking?

I'll be heading down from Mansfield if anyone wants to meet up on the M1/M69, assuming the Elan wants to go as much as I do!

Andy, as long as you are not too late all the cars are parked under cover in the cattle sheds. I guess they can get 1000 or so cars in

Might be easier to go for the services in that case - less chance of missing people :-D

(unless they go to the wrong services - but who'd do a thing like that! :-D :-D )
